De radicaalislamitische terreurorganisatie Boko Haram heeft opnieuw moordaanslagen op geestelijken gepleegd. Zoals de Internationale Gesellschaft für Menschenrechte (IGFM) meedeelt, richten de nieuwe aanvallen zich echter niet alleen tegen christenen – behalve een predikant in het district Gulak in de deelstaat Adamawa en tien van zijn gemeenteleden werd ook de leider van een islamitische gemeente in Zaria in de deelstaat Kaduna met zijn familie het slachtoffer van de terroristen. Bovendien vielen in dezelfde deelstaat radicale islamieten een dorp aan en vermoordden talrijke bewoners.

Volgens IGFM drong op 31 januari een groot aantal aanvallers tijdens de vrijdagavond kerkdienst in de EYIN-kerk in het district Gulak binnen en schoot de predikant en de aanwezige gemeenteleden dood. Dit gebeurde nauwelijks een week nadat in de onmiddellijke omgeving van Galuk 35 mensen bij een aanslag op de katholieke kerk van Chakawa om het leven kwamen. De avond daarna openden onbekenden het vuur op sjeik Muhammad Awwal Adam, ook bekend onder de naam “Albani Zaria”. De sjeik, zijn vrouw en zijn zoon werden in de kogelregen gedood. Albani was de leider van een salafistische gemeente. Hij gold als onverschrokken prediker en een van de belangrijkste islamitische tegenstanders van Boko Haram in Nigeria.

Twee dagen later, op de avond van 3 februari, vielen radicale islamieten het dorp Zangan in een landelijke streek in het zuiden van Kaduna aan – een regio, waarin overwegend christenen wonen. Talrijke bewoners werden gedood en het dorp, dat na een overval een jaar daarvoor net weer was opgebouwd, werd gedeeltelijk platgebrand.

Nigeria, gelegen in het westen van Afrika, is met 170 miljoen het land met de meeste inwoners van Afrika. De bevolking bestaat ongeveer voor elk de helft uit christenen en moslims. Het land staat in het centrum van inspanningen van radicale islamieten die vechten tegen het verzet van zowel de christelijke bevolkingshelft als de vele gematigde moslims om de sharia in te voeren. Met dit doel voert de terreurgroepering “Boko Haram”, ook wel de Al Qaida van Nigeria genoemd, al jarenlang een bloedige terreurveldtocht, waarvan al duizenden mensen het slachtoffer zijn geworden.

Nigeria kent een lange historie van religieuze conflicten. Deze werden vooral aangewakkerd door het vermengen van etnische en religieuze politiek: veel van Nigeria´s etniciteiten bestaan merendeels of uit christenen of uit moslims, zodat acute conflicten tussen etniciteiten ook latente vijandigheden tussen geloofsgemeenschappen doen opvlammen, en omgekeerd. Tot nu toe leden vooral de christenen in het zuiden onder deze conflicten, bijvoorbeeld tijdens de afscheiding van Biafra eind jaren-´60. Toen Nigeria na een langdurige militaire dictatuur in 1999 een democratie werd, kwamen talrijke Nigeriaanse moslims tot de conclusie dat zij onder christelijke president Olusegun Obasanjo hun overwicht zouden kwijtraken. Deze verwachting is een van de redenen waaruit Boko Haram werd geboren. Bij gewelddadige botsingen tussen moslims en christenen kwamen in Nigeria tot nu toe meer dan 48.000 mensen om het leven.

Alleen al in de eerste maand van het jaar 2014 bedroeg het aantal dodelijke slachtoffers 200. Het conflict in Nigeria is meer dan alleen van regionale betekenis. Eén op de zes Afrikanen woont in Nigeria; Nigeria is, ondanks alle problemen, na Zuid-Afrika de op één na grootste economie van Afrika en zeer belangrijk voor de economie van Afrika in het algemeen. Bovendien heeft Nigeria enorme politieke invloed in de regio, bijvoorbeeld in de vorm van Nigeriaanse vredestroepen in talrijke conflictgebieden. Duurzame politieke instabiliteit in Nigeria, net zoals de economische crises die vaak het gevolg van zo´n instabiliteit zijn, zouden daarom buitenproportionele gevolgen voor de rest van Afrika hebben. Een radicaalislamitisch gedomineerd Nigeria, dat zijn politieke en economische hegemonie in Afrika gebruikt voor de verbreiding van een extremistische islam, zou een catastrofe voor het hele continent zijn.

Nigeria: Islamitische terreursekte snijdt scholieren de keel door

Bij een aanval op een kostschool in het noordoosten van Nigeria zijn meer dan 40 mensen om het leven gekomen, onder wie veel scholieren. Van velen van hen werd de keel doorgesneden, anderen werden door de brand onherkenbaar verminkt.

De islamitische terreurorganisatie Boko Haram heeft in het noordoosten van Nigeria minstens 43 scholieren vermoord. In de vroege morgen hadden de radicale islamieten een internaat bij Damaturu in de deelstaat Yobe in brand gestoken. Daarbij schoten ze leerlingen die wilden vluchten dood of sneden hun kelen door, berichtten Nigeriaanse media onder verwijzing naar overlevende getuigen.

Het bij een scholencomplex behorende internaat werd door de aanvallers in brand gestoken terwijl de scholieren nog sliepen, vertelde een lid van de schoolcommissie. Soldaten borgen in de loop van de dag lijken uit het afgebrande gebouw, aldus een militaire woordvoerder. Volgens een woordvoerder van de politie verbrandden enkele scholieren dusdanig dat zij niet meer te herkennen waren.

Ongeveer 50 mannen van de terreurbeweging Boko Haram hadden het Federal Government College bestormd. De school wordt bezocht door kinderen in de leeftijd van 11 tot 18 jaar.

De aanvallers sloegen op de vlucht nog voordat de politie van een politiebureau in de buurt iets in de gaten had. Ze hebben enkele scholieren ontvoerd. Hoeveel van de doden scholieren waren en hoeveel medewerkers van het internaat is nog niet duidelijk.

Sekte vermoordde duizenden mensen

Sinds 2009 heeft de islamitische terreurbeweging Boko Haram (“Westers onderwijs is een zonde”) bij aanslagen meerdere duizenden mensen vermoord. Met het uitroepen van de noodtoestand in mei 2013 in drie deelstaten in het noorden zou het Nigeriaanse leger hen intensiever dan daarvoor moeten kunnen bestrijden. De aanslagen vinden nog steeds plaats.

Nigeria heeft volgens actuele schattingen ongeveer 1`55 miljoen inwoners. Meer dan de helft van hen bekent zich tot de islam; vooral het noorden is bijna uitsluitend islamitisch. In Nigeria woont daarmee een van de grootste islamitische gemeenschappen van West-Afrika. Het aantal christen in Nigeria wordt op 40% tot meer dan 48% geschat.

Sinds de jaren-70 ontstonden er meerdere radicale islamitische gemeenschappen. Al in de jaren-80 kwam het in meerdere steden tot geweld met een religieuze achtergrond. Twaalf deelstaten in het noorden van het land voerden in 1999 de sharia in, het islamitisch strafrecht.

Nigeria: Allah´s krijgers vermoorden 80 mensen

Boko Haram is de naam van de islamitische terreurbeweging die in Nigeria steeds opnieuw bloedbaden aanricht. De naam betekent zoveel als: “boeken in Latijns schrift zijn zondig” of “westers onderwijs is verboden” of “moderne opvoeding is een zonde”.

Vermoedelijk strijders van de radicaalislamitische beweging Boko Haram hebben in het noordoosten van Nigeria bijna 80 mensen vermoord. Bij een dubbele aanslag in de stad Maiduguri in de deelstaat Borno werden volgens de politie zaterdagavond minstens 35 mensen gedood, ooggetuigen spraken zelfs van 50 doden. Tegelijkertijd vermoordden gewapende aanvallers in het dorp Mainok, dat 40 kilometer verder naar het westen ligt, bijna 40 mensen.

Na de aanslag in Maiduguri waren politieagenten en soldaten er zondag nog steeds mee bezig de lijken te bergen. Tot nu toe zin er 35 doden gevonden, zei de politiechef van Borno, Lawal Tanko, tegen het persbureau AFP. Volgens ooggetuigen brachten vrijwilligers, politieagenten en soldaten zelfs 50 lijken naar een ziekenhuis. Onder de doden bevonden zich ook vrouwen en kinderen (...).

Nog in de nacht naar verleden week dinsdag hadden islamitische terroristen een internaat in Buni Yadi in de deelstaat Yobe aangevallen en 43 mensen vermoord. Bij velen van de vooral jeugdige slachtoffers werd de keel doorgesneden om niet door schoten op te vallen.

Boko Haram vecht sinds 2009 met geweld voor een islamitische Allah-staat in het noorden van Nigeria. De naam betekent vertaald “westers onderwijs is verboden”. Steeds opnieuw pleegt de groepering bloedige aanslagen en overvallen op dorpen, kerken, scholen, soldaten, politici en vertegenwoordigers van de autoriteiten.

De groepering wordt er van verdacht contact te hebben met de Noord-Afrikaanse arm van Al Qaida (AQMI) en de Somalische radicaalislamitische Al Shabaab-milities en wordt door Nigeria en de VS gekwalificeerd als terreurorganisatie.

The exact number of missing students had yet to be established, as some of the girls had managed to return to their homes.
The girls said she and her schoolmates were taken away in a convoy, which had to slow down after some of the vehicles developed a fault.
Around 10 to 15 girls seized the opportunity to escape.
"We ran into the bush and waited until daybreak before we went back home," she said.

Het Counterjihad blog “Shariaunveiled” bericht op dit moment over een rapport, dat de geldstroom uit Saoedi-Arabië naar de islamitische moordenaarsbende “Boko Haram” in Nigeria documenteert. Boko Haram kwam onlangs weer bijzonder opvallend in het nieuws, toen zij meer dan 100 schoolmeisjes, na een moorddadige aanval, rechtstreeks vanuit een school ontvoerde – een van haar specialiteiten. Saoedi-Arabië neemt hier doelgericht door de financiering van deze terreur, die al aan duizenden christenen, maar ook aan moslims, in Nigeria het leven heeft gekost, haar islamitische veroverings- en economische belangen waar.

In het kader van een onderzoek door een schrijverscollectief, dat het desbetreffende rapport vooral heeft gewijd aan de betrokkenheid van Saoedi-Arabië bij de financiering van de “rebellen” in Syrië, komt men te weten dat Al-Qaida en Al-Shabaab grote invloed op en contacten met Boko Haram hebben en dat er in Nigeria veel niet-Nigerianen deelnemen aan de islamitische terreur.

Bovendien wordt duidelijk dat Saoedi-Arabië zijn islamiseringsactiviteiten intussen in grote delen van Afrika uitbreidt en op deze manier tot nu toe niet-islamitische landen zoals Ivoorkust, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Liberia, Togo en Kameroen in groot gevaar brengt om eveneens door de islamitische terreur overrompeld te worden.

Het oorspronkelijke bericht verscheen op de Nigeriaanse website “Elombah.com” en werd geschreven door drie vrouwenrechtenactivisten uit Syrië, Iran en Saoedi-Arabië. Zij maken zich zorgen op grond van de toenemende uitbreiding van de wahabitische islam in bijvoorbeeld Syrië, maar nu ook vooral door Boko Haram in Nigeria, wat verschrikkelijke gevolgen voor de vrouwelijke bevolking heeft. Verkrachting, ontvoering, marteling en slavernij zijn een veelvuldig lot voor de vrouwen die met de oer-islam van de Saoedi´s in contact komen.

Nederlanders ontvoerd in Nigeria

Zwaarbewapende rebellen hebben zondag een drietal Nederlanders gekidnapt in Letugbene, Zuid-Nigeria. De militanten ontvoerden eveneens twee Nigerianen.

De Nederlanders hadden volgens website Sahara Reporters een bezoek afgelegd aan de lokale vorst van het koninkrijk Iduwuni, toen ze onderschept werden. De aanvallers kwamen in speedboten en waren bewapend met kalasjnikovs.

Het drietal bezocht de regio om te inventariseren hoe men dorpelingen kon assisteren in de gezondheidszorg.

'I abducted your girls ... By Allah, I will sell them': Nigerian Islamist leader claims responsibility for mass abduction


Lagos: Nigeria's Islamic extremist leader threatened in a videotaped statement seen on Monday to sell the more than 200 teenage schoolgirls abducted from a school in the remote northeast of the country three weeks ago.

Abubakar Shekau for the first time also claimed responsibility for the April 15 mass abduction, in a video reviewed by The Associated Press.
"I abducted your girls," said the leader of Boko Haram, which means "Western education is sinful.
"By Allah, I will sell them in the marketplace," he said in the hour-long video that starts with fighters lofting automatic rifles and shooting in the air as they chant "Allahu akbar!" or "God is great."

It was unclear if the video was made before or after reports emerged last week that some of the girls have been forced to marry their abductors - who paid a nominal bride price of $US12 ($12.95) - and that others have been carried into neighbouring Cameroon and Chad. Those reports could not be verified.

An intermediary who has said Boko Haram is ready to negotiate ransoms for the girls also said two of the girls have died of snakebite and about 20 are ill. He said Christians among the girls have been forced to convert to Islam. The man, an Islamic scholar, spoke on condition of anonymity because his position is sensitive.

Nigeria's police have said more than 300 girls were abducted. Of that number, 276 remain in captivity and 53 escaped.
The mass abduction and the military's failure to rescue the girls and young women has roused national outrage with protests in major cities. Protesters accused President Goodluck Jonathan of being insensitive to the girl's plight.

First lady Patience Jonathan fuelled anger on Monday when a leader of a protest march said she ordered the arrests of two protest leaders, expressed doubts there was any kidnapping and accused the protest leaders of belonging to Boko Haram.

It was unclear what authority Mrs Jonathan would have to give such orders, since there is no office of first lady in the Nigerian constitution.
The first lady's office denied there were any arrests.

But Saratu Angus Ndirpaya of Chibok town said State Security Service agents drove her and protest leader Naomi Mutah Nyadar to a police station on Monday after an all-night meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja, the capital.

She said police immediately released her but that Nyadar remains in detention. Deputy Superintendent Daniel Altine, police spokeswoman for Abuja, said she had no information but would investigate.

On Sunday night, Jonathan said his administration is doing everything possible. On Friday, he created a presidential committee to go to the affected Borno state to work with the community on a strategy for the release.

Some girls who have escaped from the mass kidnapping said their captors identified themselves as Boko Haram.

A leader of a protest march for the missing schoolgirls says Nigeria’s first lady abused them, expressed doubts there was any kidnapping and accused them of belonging to the network blamed for the abductions. Then she ordered two of them arrested, the AP reported.

Three weeks have now passed since dozens of heavily armed men descended upon a darkened dormitory where hundreds of Nigerian girls slept, abducted them and disappeared into the night.

Three weeks since authorities erroneously stated that only 100 Chibok girls were missing — when in fact it was 276.
And three weeks since hundreds of parents last saw their children, since they’ve launched protests that have swept a nation, since some of the girls were reportedly sold and vanished.
Government has no idea of where abducted girls are.

Nigerian President Jonathan, who has taken sweeping criticism for what some have perceived as disregard for the crisis, addressed concerns on Sunday. “Wherever these girls are, we’ll get them out,” Jonathan said, adding that officials had no idea where they were.
Then he proceeded to criticise parents for not being forthright with police. ”What we request is maximum cooperation from the guardians and the parents of these girls. Because up to this time, they have not been able to come clearly, to give the police clear identity of the girls that have yet to return,” he said.

The events illustrated an escalating clash between a protest movement and a government many say has been feckless in its pursuit of the children.
Adding to that tension is dismay that the government seems to have no idea where the girls are — because Village elder Pogo Bitrus said it’s clear to locals.

“Some of them have been taken to the northern part of the state, and these are the ones with the bad experiences in the mass marriages,” Bitrus explained on Monday morning while waiting for a protester at an Abuja police station, who he claims was “detained for no reason.”
“But the bulk of them are kept in the Sambisa Forest,” Bitrus said. “It’s not too far from where the girls were abducted and where the majority of the escapees are from.”

While many in the West have expressed outrage at the abductions — there were weekend protests in London and Los Angeles — Bitrus conveyed resignation.
“The government is slow and it is unfortunate, but this is the Nigerian attitude. This is not the West. If it was, someone would have resigned or been thrown out, but the whole thing is different here. And we must accommodate whatever.”
Abduction 'a tradition of Boko Haram'

On April 14, the girls were believed to have been captured by murderously violent militants belonging to Boko Haram.
Since 2010, the group has carried out a vicious campaign against education, which it blames for many of the problems in Nigeria, the continent’s most populous nation.

According to some estimates, the group has killed as many as 2300 people. This year, more than 1500 have died in regular bouts of ethnic violence, and the government has at times appeared powerless to stop the bloodletting.

Today, it’s unclear which side has control over Nigeria’s northern states — the government, or Boko Haram. Some of the girls, though Bitrus says it’s unclear how many, have been taken into Cameroon and Chad and have since disappeared.

This reality has made some in Nigeria lose faith in the military, and question whether it can monitor the girls’ movements, let alone rescue them. “The free movement of the kidnappers in huge convoys with their captives for two weeks without being traced by the military, which claims to be working diligently to free the girls, is unbelievable,” Bitrus said.

Still, there was reason for optimism, he said. This isn’t the first time Boko Haram has kidnapped girls. But it is one of the first times, if not the first, that it’s attracted such global attention.

“This has been a tradition of Boko Haram,” he said. “This is not starting now. It has just ever been heard of before. … But with this pressure, they’ll be released very soon.”

And if not? “The Boko Haram is known to be so vicious, so ruthless,” he said. “They don’t value life. They are people who blow themselves up. They are capable of doing anything.”

US preparing team to help Nigeria locate kidnapped girls
The White House said Tuesday the U.S. is preparing to send a team to Nigeria to help the government search for nearly 300 schoolgirls abducted more than three weeks ago by Islamic militants.

The team would likely include military personnel, law enforcement personnel and others with experience in intelligence, investigations, hostage negotiation and victims' assistance, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters.

"Time is of the essence," he said, stressing that the kidnappings happened 22 days ago. "Appropriate action must be taken to locate and to free these young women before they are trafficked or killed."

Carney said that Secretary of State John Kerry spoke earlier Tuesday with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, who "welcomed" the secretary's offer to send a team to discuss assistance.

"The president was very happy to receive this offer and ready to move on it immediately," Kerry told reporters at a State Department news conference with European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton. "We are immediately engaging in order to implement this. We remain deeply concerned about the welfare of these young girls."

It's unclear how soon a team of military and law enforcement personnel might be deployed.

Carney urged the Nigerian government to ensure that it is using all available resources to ensure the safe return of the girls.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Kerry and Jonathan discussed the "interdisciplinary team" on their phone call on Tuesday.

"It would include U.S. military personnel, law enforcement officials with expertise in investigations and hostage negotiations as well as officials with expertise in other areas that may be helpful to the Nigerian government in its response," she said.

The development comes as Boko Haram, the group of militants responsible for last month's mass kidnapping, seized eight more girls on Monday.

In a video message apparently made by the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau claimed responsibility for the schoolgirl kidnappings three weeks ago. In the video, he called the girls slaves and threatened to "sell them in the market, by Allah."

In the 57-minute video, Shekau said "western education should end." He also said he threatened to "give their hands in marriage because they are our slaves. We would marry them out at the age of 9. We would marry them out at the age of 12."

The kidnappings have sparked anti-government protests in Nigeria and been a source of international embarrassment for the country's president, who has been unable to rescue any of the taken teens.

Of the nearly 300 girls who were abducted, 276 remain in captivity, while 53 managed to escape on their own.

Earlier this year, Boko Haram kidnapped and slaughtered more than 50 teenage boys at a government school in northern Nigeria. Some of the boys were burned alive.

Shekau said in the video his group also plans to attack more schools and abduct more girls.

Wat een achterlijkheid van het naieve SP meisje Sharon Gesthuizen. Waarschijnlijk gelooft het kind ook nog in sprookjes.
Ik begrijp niet hoe een meisje met een paar jaar kunstgeschiedenis in de tweede kamer gekozen wordt. Door voorkeur stemmen blijkt, want ze heeft ooit iets gedaan voor postbodes. Niet dat het de postbodes goed gedaan heeft, want ze hebben ondanks haar "Red de Postbode" initiatief hun baan verloren.

Nov. 10, 2011: Boko Haram, which means "Western education is sinful" in Hausa, was established in 2002 in Maiduguri, the capital of Nigeria's Borno state. It has since spread to several other northern and central Nigerian states. Some in the country have referred to Boko Haram as the Nigerian Taliban in reference to the group's call for Sharia throughout Nigeria. In June 2011, a spokesman claiming to represent Boko Haram amended this demand, instead calling for what the group defines as a stricter form of Sharia in the northern Nigerian states where Sharia already is the law.

U.S. Offers Counterinsurgency Training to Nigeria

June 6, 2012: The United States will likely begin training Nigerian military forces in counterinsurgency operations following discussions held in Washington on June 6. Nigeria is seen as a logical partner to receive U.S. military assistance as it struggles to contain Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram, and having soldiers in Nigeria will help U.S. intelligence monitor for increasing terrorist threats in West and North Africa.

Is Boko Haram More Dangerous Than Ever?

Dec. 13, 2012: While Boko Haram progressed rapidly in terms of operational ability in 2011, it is still struggling to conduct sustained operations outside its core geographic territory, and it has yet to successfully strike a hardened target. Even the August 2011 attack against the United Nations, while demonstrating some geographic reach and a focus on an international target, was directed against a relatively soft target instead of a harder target like a government ministry building or a foreign embassy. It is also notable that the group has not conducted an attack in Lagos, Nigeria's most populous city, or in Niger, Chad or Cameroon, which are all closer to the Boko Haram home territories than Lagos.

Nigeria: Limitations on a Boko Haram Cease-Fire

July 11, 2013: Rather than being merely focused on spreading Islamist tenets, Boko Haram also serves as a political tool. Powerful Muslim politicians in Nigeria's north use the group to pressure the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in an effort to gain a larger share of the political patronage funded by Nigeria's oil revenues. Southern politicians such as Jonathan use militant groups in the Niger Delta for the same purpose. At the very least, the 2015 presidential elections will provide significant motivation for the northeastern political elite to deploy its tool, just as Niger Delta militants such as Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force have threatened violence should Jonathan's re-election bid be thwarted.

In Nigeria, an Attack Shows Boko Haram's Current Capabilities

Dec. 3, 2013: An attack on a Nigerian air base shows that ongoing military operations in northeastern Nigeria have not prevented Boko Haram from mounting attacks in the urban centers of the northeast, despite government claims to the contrary. However, the attack -- notable for both its size and target -- does not necessarily note new capabilities or a departure from the previous pattern of attacks. Boko Haram continues to be primarily active in northeastern Nigeria and does not yet pose an existential threat to the Nigerian government itself.

Boko Haram Adjusts Its Methods

April 24, 2014: The April 14 car-bombing near the Nigerian capital of Abuja, for which Boko Haram claimed responsibility, marks the group's renewed use of vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices to carry out attacks. Boko Haram is modifying its strategy, employing guerrilla and terrorist tactics while abandoning its effort to control a small part of Borno state -- a goal the group pursued during the first half of 2013. The most recent attack marks a return to the methods Boko Haram used in 2012, although the softer targets and lack of suicide bombers suggest a lower degree of sophistication. The group's activity during the first quarter of this year also suggests a more limited geographic concentration to the three northeastern states of Nigeria: Borno, Yobe and Adamawa. However, occasional attacks in Kano state and the Middle Belt region remain likely.

Gelukkig gaan er steeds meer ogen open, want Nederland wil dat de Nigeriaanse moslimorganisatie Boko Haram op de Europese terreurlijst wordt geplaatst. Het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken werkt daar al enige tijd aan.

Tweede Kamerlid Sjoerd Sjoerdsma en Europarlementariër Marietje Schaake (beiden D66) hebben er vrijdag bij minister Frans Timmermans op aangedrongen de kwestie naar voren te brengen tijdens een EU-beraad maandag.

Volgens een woordvoerster van Buitenlandse Zaken is Nederland al langere tijd bezig met consultaties in Brussel en andere Europese hoofdsteden om te zorgen dat Boko Haram op de EU-terreurlijst komt. „Dit duurt langer dan wij zouden willen. Het feit dat de terreurdaden van Boko Haram geen directe link hebben met Nederland, maakt het voor Nederland moeilijk de vereiste juridische onderbouwing te verschaffen”, zegt de woordvoerster.

Boko Haram wil meisje ruilen'

De Nigeriaanse terroristische groep Boko Haram wil de meer dan 200 schoolmeisjes die hij heeft ontvoerd, ruilen tegen gevangenzittende kameraden. Nigeriaanse media meldden vrijdag dat Shehu Sani dat heeft gezegd. Hij is eerder betrokken is geweest bij onderhandelingen met de terreurgroep in het noordoosten van het land.

Volgens de Nigeriaanse krant Punch is de brug die de terroristen opbliezen, een belangrijke verbinding op de grens tussen Nigeria en Kameroen. De aanslag vond plaats toen dorpelingen zich verzamelden om de massale uitvaart bij te wonen van de slachtoffers van het bloedbad maandag. Van de 336 slachtoffers die toen vielen, werden er tijdens een ceremonie 315 begraven.

BOKO HARAM AND THE HISTORY OF CHILD RAPE IN JIHAD

On April 14, 2014, Boko Haram, (whose name either means “Western education is forbidden” or “a colonialist fraud being perpetrated against us”), captured three hundred Christian and Muslim Nigerian schoolgirls to become their sex and domestic slaves. The Muslim fundamentalists swooped down upon them as they were learning in a “forbidden” government secular school. Some girls managed to escape. Two hundred and seventy six girls are still missing.
The world media calls this a “kidnapping” in Nigeria. It is not a “kidnapping.” It is the face of Jihad, the way of Jihad. Boko Haram are not holding these girls for ransom, they are not willing to return them for money. They already view the girls as their God-given booty, and as sale-able property.
The girls are between the ages of twelve and fifteen. The Christian girls will be raped, converted to Islam, and then, like the Muslims girls, “married” to one of their captors. Some will be trafficked into the sex trade, which is pandemic throughout Africa and the Muslim Middle East. Sharia law allows men to purchase the sexual favors of a female child or a young woman for one hour, a week, or a month. Private and public brothels exist as well.
Please understand: Boko Haram are the Nigerian Taliban. Like their Pakistani and Afghan counterparts, they oppose education for girls and would rather marry and impregnate them instead--for Allah’s sake.
This behavior is absolutely par for the course in Islamic history. Anyone who is surprised or shocked by this latest outrage in Nigeria simply does not know the facts.
Boko Haram’s behavior is typical of any armed Muslim force beginning in Mohammed’s time. The Prophet’s warriors went on raids and systematically massacred the Jewish tribes in Arabia. The men who refused to convert were beheaded--and then the Prophet divided the women, children, houses, and chattels among the Muslims. The women were forcibly converted and kept as “wives” or slaves.
Thereafter, Muslim warriors in search of power, land, and gold, did much the same thing.
Contrary to the politically correct intelligentsia, who focus only on Western sins, Islam also has a long and ongoing history of imperialism, colonialism, conversion by the sword, sex slavery, (of both boys and girls), polygamy, sex trafficking, and the brutal subordination and cyclical massacres of religious minorities.
Westerners either do not know this, do not want to know this, don’t care all that much, or misunderstand this.
Some, including journalists, still believe that Boko Haram and other such groups are crying out against injustice and poverty, against government corruption and ineptitude--all of which exist.
But that is not Boko Haram’s major concern. They want to assert an Islamic state in Nigeria, similar to that which exists in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, and now, Brunei. These Muslim extremists, both Sunni and Shiia, want Sharia law to dominate public and private life. This means that the state will have the power to stone people to death for adultery and apostasy, to amputate for theft, to lash and jail for “blasphemy,” to tax and hold hostage, jail, murder, or exile infidels.
Oh, yes--male polygamy will be legal, marriage will be forced, women will be veiled, normatively beaten and raped without recourse, honor killed for the slightest perceived disobedience. Women are breeders and housekeepers--an education would ruin them.
Nevertheless, for the first time, the world is mobilized, we have a “teachable moment.” Petitions have been signed, tweets tweeted, articles written, offers of military support tendered. I have remained silent because I have not liked how many in the media have jumped on this latest example of barbarism to plead their own special cause.
The capture of girls is horrifying but, they say, let’s remember that Boko Haram and other groups like them have also persecuted religious minorities in the Muslim and Arab world; let’s not forget that there are so many moderate Muslims who believe in women’s rights and the Western enterprise; let’s remember that this is just one more face of Jihad against the West, etc. All true--but this all takes the focus away from the way in which historical Islam views and treats women.
In 1971, hundreds of thousands of women were raped during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Pakistani Muslim soldiers publicly and repeatedly gang-raped and tortured Muslim (future Bangladeshi) women. These women became known as “Birangona,” or “brave women.” At the time, many killed themselves or, if pregnant, their families killed them in honor killings. Forty years later, those who survived are still traumatized and shamed by what was done to them. Many were humiliated by their relatives, rejected by their husbands.
At the time, the West paid no attention.
From 1992 on, Islamic paramilitary troops enslaved young Muslim girls in Algeria both sexually and domestically; they just grabbed them off the streets. If they tried to escape, they would be shot dead; the same was true when they became pregnant. Their names are lost in history.

And then there was 2004, in Sudan, a long and ugly war, in which ethnic Arab Muslims engaged in what I call “gender cleansing” when they publicly and repeatedly gang-raped mainly Black African Muslim, Christian, and animist women. I was approached for advice and suggested setting up Women’s Talking Tents where the raped girls and women could come and speak their pain, see they were not alone, learn that it was not their fault.
And Western governments did nothing.
I wonder what will happen to those poor Nigerian girls who survive this ordeal? Will they be rescued and embraced? Will they be able to one day see themselves as war heroes, not victims? Will they all ever be found?
Mainly, will the world finally take a strong stand against such militant and barbaric Islamic groups who not only rape and imprison Muslim girls and women but who also slaughter both Muslim civilians and "infidels" indiscriminately?
