EDL Leaders Given A Warm Reception By Ordinary People In The United States, Despite Harassment of Leader by Agents Of The United States Government
Representatives of the International Civil Liberties Alliance (ICLA) had the pleasure and the privilege to meet members of the English Defence League (EDL) leadership team in New York last weekend.
We are a US based international organisation and it was an honour for us to welcome them to the USA, a country which has much admiration and respect for their efforts if the views of ordinary people are deemed worthy of consideration. Some of us were with them at the airport after the shameful deportation of EDL leader Tommy Robinson. We strongly condemn this action against a friend of the people of the United States by US border officials. We wonder how much collusion took place at government level between the two countries. We know that the British government want to censor the views of the EDL, but the US authorities have denied the American people the right to hear the opinions of this important British leader. The British authorities might not like it, but Tommy Robinson is an important British voice now and he will grow more important in the future, especially as the British elite continue to hound and persecute him.

We was stood by the sky van watching the demonstration, when my wife was attacked by the UAF because she had a St Georges flag on her T shirt.
Now being ex military I am actively involved in charities looking after ex and serving military personal. What I am hearing tonight from the military internet sites is very alarming, as 25 UAF thugs attacked 6 soldiers outside Leicester train station today. From what we understand the squaddies gave the UAF a bloody nose, and amazingly the police let the UAF go without any charges.

Not a Trace of Racism: An Outsider's Look at the EDL By Sigurd Ericson
(LONDON, October 25, 2010) The English Defence League is racist, fascist and violent – in brief, something the cat dragged in and which must be crushed by any means necessary if England is to remain free and democratic. This is what the British media have been telling the public ever since the EDL first made its appearance in the town of Luton 18 months ago, and armed with this knowledge I went to England to see for myself.

I was in for a big surprise for I could find no evidence that would support any of these accusations.
Quite the contrary: The leaders and rank and file that I met in London, Wolverhampton, Luton and Bolton (a fair cross-section of the national membership, one should think) are multi-ethnic. They are black and white, English, Irish (interestingly, both Catholic and Protestant), Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Jewish and probably a few other denominations and nationalities. Homosexuals are welcome and have even formed their own "division" in London – as have the Jews.
These special divisions may not have a lot of members but they exist and the EDL leadership would clearly like to see them grow.
The most important national leader, Tommy Robinson, who told this reporter that the Sikhs are the "most English of the English", demonstrated this absence of racism.
When the media and the political and cultural elites accuse the EDL of racism, they must thinking of something else, namely that the organisation is adamantly opposed to the growing Islamisation of England. But Islam is an ideology and a political practice, not a race, as several members were keen to point out.
A working-class movement
The EDL is entirely working-class in outlook and demeanour and proudly so. Their sole political objective appears to be the defence of English – sometimes referred to as Christian – culture against Islamic encroachment. They despise the current British left but mainly because it is being subservient to Islamic interests. They have no trust in the official political leaders, who they consider to be sell-outs.
One is reminded of George Orwell's observation: If there is any hope at all, it has to come from the proles.
Nobody this reporter spoke to – leaders as well as rank and file – has any sympathy with English Nazis or with The British National Party, which they consider racist in the traditional sense of the term. Adherents of totalitarian or racialist ideologies are unceremoniously evicted.
It is very difficult to judge the size of the national following. I heard various figures – 30,000 was mentioned – but as far as I can tell, no records are kept.
Perhaps there is a tendency to exaggerate. The leader of the East London division said that the EDL has only 180 activists in the capital. The organisation's main strength appears to be in the Midlands and the North of the country.
Leaders by example
The EDL leadership can most fairly be described as charismatic. The leaders are those who can think and speak and have proved their mettle in concrete action.
That is undoubtedly the only form of organisation possible at this stage. The EDL is utterly vulnerable to infiltration by police agents and others who would like nothing better than to derail it and make it engage in self-destructive, violent and illegal activities that can then be used as a pretext for a clamp down.
It is already eminently clear that the authorities are using and will use any trick in the book to squash the EDL including police harassment and attempts by the Inland Revenue Service to financially ruin its leaders.
Tommy Robinson is currently under investigation for violent assault and money laundering – charges that he says are trumped up.
"We are a bit rough", Robinson recently admitted to a gathering of his followers in London. But as far as this reporter could tell, nowhere near as rough as the so-called "antifascists" that try to foment violence every time the EDL stages a demonstration – and certainly not compared to the Muslim thugs that have long ruled by violence in so many English cities.
Strengths
The EDL can best be described as a working-class "band of brothers" determined to preserve their way of life. They are not intellectuals and may know little about the details of English history but they have a deep sense of what that history is about. Any outsider with ill motives trying to impose himself will stand out like a sore thumb.
The EDL leadership and rank and file clearly know all they need to know about Islam. This reporter was particularly impressed by their ability to connect a general analysis of Islamic ideology and modus operandi with street wisdom – or expressed differently: to see the deep implications of any deference to Islamic cultural demands – such as the building of mega-mosques or the introduction of "medieval toilets" for Muslims in supermarkets.
They also have a keen sense that Muslim street crime should be seen as part of a wider strategy to undermine English society.
EDL members on a run-down estate in Luton characterised Muslim drug dealing as a "chemical jihad". After gangs of Muslims have started pushing their wares on white youngsters, every bloke on the estate has a friend who is hooked on heroin.
A female pub owner from the neighbourhood agrees. "They come here most every night right across the street and sell their heroin. The police know all about it but don't lift a finger."
The organisation can undoubtedly use a few intellectuals as analysts, experts, legal advisors, office personnel and the like but if it gives up its working-class leadership and permits well-meaning intellectuals to call the shots, it will become a vastly different type of organisation.
Weaknesses
One must seriously doubt whether the EDL can survive in its present form. Leaders and activists are wearing themselves out with all the work they are trying to accomplish and one gets the impression that their missuses are not happy. On top of that they have to earn a living in their civilian trades. Unless the EDL gets sufficiently organised to pay its officers a living salary and hires some office personnel to help them out, the end will be in sight.
Given the size of the ground-level support the EDL is undoubtedly enjoying, it should not be impossible to generate funds for a more professional organisation. One of the London leaders told this reporter that many of his mates at work agree with him but dare not cross the line to openly commit themselves. But they could certainly pay a few quid a week to support the cause. That has been done before in numerous battles around the world.
Outlook
Historically 99 out of 100 peoples' movements have come to naught – with their leaders in jail and their supporters dispirited.
There is no doubt that everything will be done to crush the EDL because the British government must be aware that if the EDL survives, it will force the authorities to openly choose sides: Islam or England.
If, however, the EDL can survive, stay the course and maintain its strength for just a few years, the battle will have been won.

RABBI SPEAKS TO THE MILD MANNERED EDL WHILE THE SUPPORTERS OF A SHARIA COMPLIANT UK SEETHE.......
The English Defence League (EDL) had a highly successful demonstration in London to show their support of Israel and their opposition to anti-Semitism. The main speaker at the event was Rabbi Nachum Shifren, Tea Party activist and candidate for the California State Senate.
It was also a very eventful day. Just before the Rabbi spoke, a left wing activist demonstrated the criminal impulses of people who choose to call themselves ‘antifascists’ when he threw water at the sound equipment. This did take the system down for a while, and when it was restored there was a definite crackle when the Rabbi spoke, as the video footage will inevitably show. Of course, it is, from a certain point of view, understandable why the left wing activists who stalk the EDL should feel so frustrated. The turnout for their demo was dismal and a clear indication that their message is being rejected, even, perhaps, by their own followers.
It seems that people are now realising that the propaganda that demonises the EDL is clearly false. The EDL is an inclusive and ethnically diverse organisation that seeks to preserve and protect the values that have made Britain a haven for those fleeing persecution abroad. For Britain to continue as a refuge it will be necessary to oppose the gradual imposition of sharia that in many cases is the very source of the persecution that those who arrive on British shores complain about. Sharia norms, unfortunately, appear to be the very norms that the rulers of Britain now increasingly embrace.
During his speech, Rabbi Shifren severely rebuked the British media for its biased reporting and its unwillingness to address the threat posed by sharia. Due to the fact that the National Union of Journalists already appears to have a partisan and biased view of the EDL, how are people to believe that what journalists write is anything other than propaganda that does not reflect reality? It seems that journalists are now incapable of balance when it comes to issues associated with the rise of sharia. What happened to honest and impartial reporting?
This afternoon Rabbi Shifren was scheduled to address the crowd at Speakers’ Corner in London. I’ve just received a phone call from an EDL member at the scene, who reports that the rabbi was prevented from speaking by a group of Muslims who effectively occupied Speakers’ Corner.
The rabbi moved to a location a short distance away to give his speech, but was unable to address supporters at Speakers’ Corner itself.
Speakers’ Corner is the epicenter of the tradition of free speech in England. Up until now it has stood as a sanctuary, a sacred place in the heart of English civil liberties.
If you can’t speak out at Speakers’ Corner, then free speech in England is dead.
Just found a cyber cafe where I’m waiting for a train.
The rabbi gave a rousing speech just round the corner from the Israeli embassy. However, before he spoke a left-wing activist threw some water on the sound equipment, which stopped it working for a while. When he spoke there was a crackle from the speakers due to the damage done to the equipment.
The EDL people then dispersed, and around fifty accompanied the group across the London parks to Speakers’ Corner where Muslims seem to always have a predominant presence. When we arrived near the corner the police stopped the rabbi and the EDL from entering Speakers’ Corner, thereby preventing him from speaking there. It seems that Speakers’ Corner now belongs to the Ummah.
In the event, the police were in a difficult position, but the instinct to side with the Muslims, due to years of politically correct indoctrination, seems clear. In the end they let him speak across from Speakers’ Corner and there was a massive crowd of spectators.
There was a police cordon between the EDL and the Muslim denizens of Speakers’ Corner who came over to watch. Some of the EDL did engage some of the Muslims in debate in small groups, so it showed that the EDL are willing to enter into dialogue with individual Muslims. That was productive.
But the principle of Speakers’ Corner is that people are allowed to speak. That is a cornerstone of English culture, and a rabbi was prevented from doing so, presumably because the authorities could not guarantee his safety in an area that is increasingly used by Muslims. Things were peaceful, which of course is a good thing, but it seems that another pillar of freedom of speech in England has now fallen, thanks to the role of Multiculturalism.
English Defence League demonstrators could head to east London following clashes with Muslims Against Crusades group
Following Remembrance Day clashes between the Muslims Against Crusades (MAC) and the English Defence League (EDL) protest groups in Kensington this morning, it has been reported that demonstrators may now head to east London.
An MAC group, involving around 30 people, burned a model of a poppy in Exhibition Road and there were brief clashes with police.
At least one man was dragged to the floor and arrested.
MAC protestors held signs saying “British soldiers burn in hell” and “Allah is our protector and you have no protector”.
Around 50 counter demonstrators gathered nearby, believed to include members of the EDL, but the two sides were kept apart by the police.
Millions of Britons observed a two-minute silence at 11am to mark the anniversary of Armistice Day, when peace returned to Europe following the end of the First World War.
Ceremonies have also remembered those who have fallen in conflict since WW1, including the 110 servicemen killed in Afghanistan in the past year.

Anti-Allah outburst earns EDL supporter £200 fine after protest in Leicester A man has been fined for making offensive comments about Allah during the English Defence League protest in Leicester.
Lee Whitby was found guilty of using racially aggravated abusive words during the protest in the city centre on Saturday, October 9.
During a trial at Leicester Magistrates' Court yesterday, the 27-year-old pleaded not guilty to chanting "threatening, abusive or insulting" words that were likely to cause "harassment, alarm or distress."
Although he admitted making comments, Whitby said he did not believe they would have been heard by anyone other than police officers or fellow EDL supporters. However, magistrate Rick Moore ruled that officers were likely to have been alarmed by the defendant's words.
Whitby, of Holley Place, Stoke-on-Trent, said he was an EDL supporter and had travelled by train to Leicester on the day of the protest with about 30 people from Stoke and Crewe.
He also admitted being part of previous EDL protests in Newcastle, Dudley, Stoke, Bolton and Bradford.
The defendant told the court he was leaving the protest site in Humberstone Gate East and was being ushered towards the train station when he uttered the offensive chant.
Whitby, who chose to represent himself, said: "I went to an EDL demo and was in an area which was isolated away from everyone else.
"The only people that would have heard were the EDL.
"I was not aiming it at anyone. No-one around would find it offensive. Otherwise, I wouldn't have said it.
"I was just voicing my opinion at an EDL meeting with just EDL people around."
Alexandra Blossom, prosecuting, said the comments made were bound to cause harassment, alarm or distress because of Leicester's multicultural society and the fact the words were said in the city centre.
She said: "A number of people present that day were likely to be offended.
"It was a high-profile event and members of the public would have been in the city on a Saturday. "The remarks are even offensive to police.
"A clear message needs to be sent out about using such behaviour in a multicultural city."
The court heard Whitby had two previous convictions for common assault.
Mr Moore said: "It is a fact you were with others chanting and police were within hearing distance but there is no evidence of non-police officers within hearing distance. "It is likely that a police officer or officers hearing the words would be likely to be alarmed and for that reason we find you guilty of this offence."
Whitby was fined £200 and ordered to pay a further £200 in costs, as well as a £15 victim surcharge.olice officers or fellow EDL supporters.

Toen de EDL naar Amsterdam kwam om o.a. Wilders een hart onder de riem te steken, was heyt net of Geert daar niet zo vreselijk van gecharmeerd was. het is beter om de kat uit de boom te kijken dan om vreselijk snel solidariteit te gaan betuigen bij rechts gerichte groepen.
Voordat je het weet zit je aan tafel met Heil Hitler adepten. En als je je daarmee associeert dan verdwijn je in de marge van de politiek. Zie het Vlaams Blok dat toch wel veel anti-semieten in zijn rangen had.

Welsh Defence League links with neo-Nazis are unmasked
The WDL - aligned to the English Defence League - was set up last year by an ex-soccer hooligan and author Jeff Marsh in response to Muslim extremists abusing troops returning from Afghanistan.
It has attracted hundreds of followers and held demonstrations in Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham.
Posing as a new member of the group, an undercover journalist accompanied a number of Welsh supporters to a protest.
Shadow Welsh secretary Peter Hain, who has campaigned for years against racist groups, said: "I think every mainstream politician in Wales, wherever they are based, should make it a priority to talk to young people to explain the WDL is in a long line that goes back through the Nazis.
And I don't say that lightly because, that is the exact political situation in which Hitler was able to come into power because mainstream politicians did not deal with the grievances in Germany.
"Now I'm not suggesting the WDL is anything like as powerful as Hitler's Nazi party became, the WDL is a tiny marginalised party, but once you allow these groups to gain credibility that's where you could end up."

Theresa May pressed to halt visit by anti-Muslim US preacher
Home secretary Theresa May is under intense pressure to ban controversial anti-Muslim preacher Terry Jones from Britain after far-right activists said he had agreed to address them at a demonstration about "the evils of Islam".
The English Defence League (EDL) said it was "proud to announce" that the US pastor, who caused outrage with plans to burn the Qur'an on this year's anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, would be attending the event in Luton in early February. Jones confirmed that he would be arriving in the UK. The pastor's website said he intended to visit the EDL's "biggest demonstration to date" in February. The website stated: "During the protest, Dr Terry Jones will speak against the evils and destructiveness of Islam in support of the continued fight against the Islamification of England and Europe."

Tonight the British anti-extremist campaign, Hope Not Hate, launched its own petition urging May to ban Jones from Britain, while MPs demanded immediate action from the home secretary. Hope Not Hate's campaign co-ordinator, Nick Lowles, said: "Pastor Jones's presence in Luton will be incendiary and highly dangerous. He will attract and encourage thousands of English Defence League supporters to take to the streets of Luton.
Defence Leagues Participate in Counterjihad Paris Mega Conference
Delegates from the English Defence League (EDL) joined other activists in Paris on 18 December for the most important and well attended Counterjihad conference to date. We are told that the venue capacity was around 800 and there were easily that many in the conference hall, with many more having unfortunately to be turned away due to the capacity of the venue.
The Defence League speaker at the conference was Timo from the Dutch Defence League (DDL), with whom the EDL worked closely with regard to the Amsterdam demonstration. Timo represented the interests of the Defence Leagues admirably at the conference and put the DDL on the international Counterjihad map. The DDL has pledged to send around 45 activists to support the EDL demonstration in Luton on Saturday 5 February 2011. It is also likely that groups from France and Germany will now attend the Luton event to show solidarity with the EDL and its message.

• We protest against the aggressive proselytizing of Islam, against the occupation of public space for Muslim prayers, against the funding of its worship places with public money, against the proliferation of halal food, against the status of women in Islam, which is the opposite of our principle of gender equality and, more generally, against any advance of Islam on European soil;

• We invite all people of Europe and the world to safeguard the future of our children and grandchildren by standing up against all attempts to replace their countries’ laws, fruits of their history and guarantees of their social equilibrium, by foreign and incompatible rules;
• We urge them to defend European citizens’ right to free speech, free debate and free vote on the subject;
• We encourage them to pursue their political or editorial actions to oppose the increasingly numerous demands of Islam as they would any form of totalitarianism;
• We urge them to reject sectarianism or jealous claims in the fight against Islamization, considering that disunity would be criminal to the people and to the homeland.
We invite everyone to join an association or a party that participate in this fight, according to his own philosophy, and to build links between individuals, groups and countries in order to create strong networks. Only thus will they be able to resist the Islamic, sexist and homophobic totalitarianism which seeks, by demographics and intimidation, to eradicate a humanistic civilization. We reject obscurantism, superstition and blind obedience of man to unworthy and deadly precepts.
On this day, we started a free association of independent organizations. We are a team. We have a fight. Today we are launching a European resistance movement based on the defense of our civilization against a new totalitarianism.

School caretaker harassed after Islamists hack EDL A school received hatemail targeting its caretaker after he was wrongly identified as a fascist by opponents of the English Defence League, based on data stolen by an Islamist hacking group.
The headmaster of the comprehensive school in Dorset, which The Register has agreed not to name, summoned the caretaker to his office early last week.
He was shown anonymous emails which accused his wife of being a member of the English Defence League (EDL) and urging that he be sacked. The couple live together with their children inside the school grounds.

The emails cited data recently exposed by an attack on the EDL's website. The hacker posted his haul - lists of hundreds of members and financial supporters of the far-right group - on several sites frequented by anti-fascist activists.
"At first I was very confused and more than a little worried as the tone of one of the emails was threatening," the caretaker told The Register.
"I was sure I wasn't married to a fascist or a football hooligan as the email implied."
He investigated online and quickly found the hacked database, which indeed named his wife as an EDL donor and gave their family address at the school. He then trawled through their bank statements and found that he had inadvertently donated £1 to the group via a PayPal account in his wife's name.
The caretaker then recalled reading an article several months ago about "poppy burning or about the disruption of a military funeral". The page had a button labelled "support the troops", and he donated one pound. It gave no indication the money was destined for the far-right EDL, he claimed, but the caretaker admitted he had been "stupid".
"It would have been to show my support for our armed forces and the fallen, the same thing I do every year when I buy a poppy for one pound," he said.
"I never for one moment thought my money was being sent of to a bunch of football hooligans."
"The school and my employer have been supportive, once I explained, and have even offered to call in the police if they should be needed. However given the nature of my employment with children allegations like this could have cost me my job and my family their home."
Instead, he has spent the past week and a half issuing appeals for anti-fascists to remove his family's address from their posting of the hacked database.
"Some have been very understanding and have done just that or even simply removed my details. Where this hasn't happened or there has been no contact available I have had the list removed," he said.
"My own simple polite requests are mostly listened to. However its all been very time consuming, very disruptive and it's been a huge worry for my wife and I've had no small worry for my family's safety."
A hacker calling himself "TriCk", aka "Saywhat?", has claimed responsibility for raiding the EDL's server. In notes appended to the member and donor lists, he said he acted on behalf of TeaMp0isoN, known for defacing websites with anti-Israel and anti-India propaganda, and on behalf of "Mujahideen Hacking Unit".
"Yes I know I have broken the Data Protection Act and the Computer Misuse Act, I'm a hacker it's what we do, deal with it," he wrote.
The EDL is understood to have reported the hack to police.

One tactic being used against the EDL is a court-imposed “Anti-Social Behaviour Order” or ASBO. In one case, two men were ordered not to engage in any EDL-related activity—including even posting anything on the Internet, for ten years. In effect, this is a specially created law used only against the EDL in which the rights to free speech and peaceful protest are simply taken away from them.
Why is there so little protest against this repression? The answer is that once demonized the EDL and its members can simply be deprived of democratic rights. This is bad enough without Israel’s government or Jewish groups adding to the slander and untruth about the most visibly active pro-Israel organization in the United Kingdom today.
