Hier weer zo'n voorbeeld:
Amnesty International campaign fuels hatred of Israel among German youth

A German group warned schools last week to be cautious about Amnesty International’s “Write for Rights” campaign, accusing it of engaging in “blatant incitement against Israel.”

The German-Israel society (DIG) condemned the education campaign by Amnesty International, which encourages schools and youth groups to take action in support of Janna Jihad. According to Amnesty, the 15-year-old Palestinian activist is being “harassed for exposing Israeli violence,” and faces “death threats and intimidation” for speaking out against “Israel’s oppressive system.”

Uwe Becker, president of the DIG, said that “Instead of being the impartial guardian of universal human rights, [Amnesty International] takes the side of Hamas and company and uncritically adopts the arguments of terrorists.”

“I condemn this form of institutional hatred of Israel I can only advise every school to be careful in dealing with this action and at least not to simply use the case study of the young Palestinian Janna in class,” he added.

“The Middle East conflict is turned into an Israel problem and completely devoid of any context it is stirring hatred against the country and its defense forces. Such a one-sided and partisan action only fuels the hatred of young people against Israel and should not be used in schools in Germany,” Becker urged.

According to Amnesty International, the December school action aims to support people or communities that have suffered or are at risk of human rights violations. Once signed up, teachers and youth leaders receive a toolkit with background materials, case studies, and letter templates. By the end of the action, students are encouraged to write letters to the Israeli government and post solidarity messages on Janna’s social media accounts.

“With all the appreciation I have for the important work of Amnesty International, whoever who puts Israel on a par with Belarus and describes the Israeli army as a violent oppressor which kills children in the West Bank is engaged in nothing more than incitement against Israel,” Becker said. “Propaganda in the style of Hamas takes place here and no balanced educational work.” ... rman+Youth

Israel, Jewish orgs slam new Amnesty report, ‘originating from hate’

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs published the following announcement regarding an anti-Israel Amnesty UK report due to be published Tuesday.

The State of Israel absolutely rejects all the false allegations that appear in the report that Amnesty is expected to publish tomorrow.

The report consolidates and recycles lies, inconsistencies, and unfounded assertions that originate from well-known anti-Israeli hate organizations, all with the aim of reselling damaged goods in new packaging. Repeating the same lies of hate organizations over and over does not make the lies reality, but rather makes Amnesty illegitimate.

In publishing this false report, Amnesty UK uses double standards and demonization in order to delegitimize Israel. These are the exact components from which modern antisemitism is made.

The report denies the State of Israel’s right to exist as the nation state of the Jewish people. Its extremist language and distortion of historical context were designed to demonize Israel and pour fuel onto the fire of antisemitism.

A few days after International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we once again learn that antisemitism is not just a part of history, but unfortunately, is also part of today’s reality. Just last weekend, Jews were attacked in London simply because they were Jewish. Amnesty’s report effectively serves as a green light for the perpetrators and others to harm not only Israel, but Jews around the world.

The State of Israel is a strong and vibrant democracy that grants all its citizens equal rights, regardless of religious or race. The State of Israel was established as the national home of the Jewish people with broad international support, in light of the lessons of the Holocaust.

Amnesty criticizes the very existence of the State of Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people, and effectively denies its right to exist at all.

It is not surprising that this report is being published by the British branch of Amnesty International, and under the auspices of the organization’s Secretary General. This branch is notorious for being corrupted by racism and xenophobia, and the organization’s Secretary General has previously accused Israel – with no basis or evidence – of murdering Arafat.

It is not surprising that it took Amnesty eight years to back down from this serious and baseless accusation.

We call on Amnesty to withdraw from the report which is set to be published. This is a report which would be preferable not to publish at all, given that it does not respect those who truly value and are trying to project human rights.

The State of Israel will continue to promote the values of democracy and inclusiveness, in whose light it was established and continues to exist.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Yair Lapid: “Amnesty was once an esteemed organization that we all respected. Today, it is the exact opposite. It is not a human rights organization, but just another radical organization that echoes propaganda with no serious examination.

“Instead of seeking facts, Amnesty quotes lies spread by terrorist organizations. Five minutes of serious factchecking were enough to know that the facts that appeared in the report published this week were a delusion divorced from reality.

“Israel is not perfect, but it is a democracy committed to international law and open to scrutiny, with a free press and strong Supreme Court.

“Amnesty does not call Syria an ‘apartheid state’ – a country whose government murdered half a million of its own citizens – nor Iran or any other corrupt and murderous regime in Africa or Latin America. I hate to use the argument that if Israel were not a Jewish state, nobody in Amnesty would dare argue against it, but in this case, there is no other possibility.”

WJC, ADL weigh in; ‘nothing constructive to offer’

World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder said that “this report highlights, once again, the repeated bias Israel is targeted with as the only Jewish state.

“By issuing this one-sided and blatantly politicized report which totally ignores both Palestinian acts of terrorism and Israel’s obligation to defend its citizens against such terrorism, Amnesty International UK is consciously participating in the ongoing insidious campaign to demonize the State of Israel.”

“The report does absolutely nothing to offer a constructive way forward and has no real interest in promoting the human rights of Palestinians or advancing peace and a lasting two-state solution. It will only serve, like previous similar prejudiced reports, to fuel the fires of antisemites under the guise of political correctness. The working definition of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance also clearly states that the application of such double standards is antisemitism. I will never stop condemning and fighting against this and all other abusive attempts to delegitimize the State of Israel,” Lauder said.

“This new report goes beyond criticizing Israeli policies and actions to painting Israel’s very creation as illegitimate, immoral, and faulted,” the Anti-Defamation League stated.
Amnesty International’s allegations that Israel’s crimes go back to the sin of its creation in 1948, serve to present the Jewish and democratic state as singularly illegitimate at its foundational roots.

“Such a hateful characterization not only delegitimizes the Israeli state enterprise and the Jewish right to self-determination in its historic homeland, but also undermines the vision of a mutually negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that will provide security, dignity, and self-determination to both peoples,” the ADL said.

“In addition, by using extreme language to attack Israel – including calling it an apartheid state, accusing it of ethnic cleansing and of committing war crimes – it feeds into an environment that emboldens those who seek to dismantle Israel, and casts aspersions on those who support a Jewish and democratic state, including the vast majority of Jews around the world and creates fertile ground for a hostile and at times antisemitic discourse.

“In an age of expanding antisemitism, this cost simply cannot be ignored.” ... nizations/

US Democratic Jewish lawmakers unanimously condemn Amnesty chief for ‘alarming’ antisemitic comments

All 25 Jewish members of the U.S. House of Representatives from the Democratic party signed an open letter on Tuesday, blasting Amnesty International’s American director, Paul O’Brien.

Speaking to Jewish Insider last week, O’Brien challenged the results of a Ruderman Family Foundation survey which stated that eight of ten American Jews identify as being pro-Israel, and that two out of three say they are emotionally attached to the Jewish State.

“I actually don’t believe that to be true,” O’Brien told JI. He said he believes that American Jews want a “sanctuary that is a safe and sustainable place that the Jews, the Jewish people can call home,” but not necessarily a Jewish State.

He added that Israel “shouldn’t exist as a Jewish state.”

O’Brien’s comments, which he said stemmed from his intuition and could not be qualified by research, surveys, or other evidence, immediately sparked backlash from Jewish groups.

“On the heels of a recent Amnesty International report that a number of Members condemned as delegitimizing of the Jewish people’s right to self-determination and undermining of the prospects for a two-state solution, Amnesty International USA’s Executive Director Paul O’Brien has now taken a new, very disturbing step: purporting to speak for the entire Jewish community on Israel,” the letter by the Democratic lawmakers read.

“He claimed his ‘gut’ tells him ‘what Jewish people in this country want’ is that Israel ‘shouldn’t exist as a Jewish state.’ As Jewish Members of the House of Representatives, we represent diverse views on a number of issues relating to Israel,” the letter continued.

In the letter, the Democratic lawmakers acknowledged that they have previously clashed on matters such as anti-Israel statements from Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN) and a potential two-state solution.

“However, we are in full agreement that Mr. O’Brien’s patronizing attempt to speak on behalf of the American Jewish community is alarming and deeply offensive. He has added his name to the list of those who, across centuries, have tried to deny and usurp the Jewish people’s independent agency.

“We stand united in condemning this and any antisemitic attempt to deny the Jewish people control of their own destiny.”

The only two Jewish members of the House who did not sign, David Kustoff of Tennessee and Lee Zeldin of New York, are Republicans. Their spokespeople told JTA that their Democratic counterparts had not offered them a chance to endorse the letter. ... sty-chief/

Beeld Spinoza in Amsterdamse bibliotheek vernield

French court sentences Imam for antisemitic sermon following appeal

Mohamed Tataiat’s initial trial last September resulted in a not-guilty verdict after six civil associations.

The imam of a mosque in the French city of Toulouse has been found guilty in appeal of “inciting violence and racial hatred” for a sermon he delivered in 2017 in which he talked about killing Jews.

The sermon delivered by the Imam of the Grand Mosque of Toulouse, Mohamed Tataiat, quoted a hadith, or saying, of the Prophet Muhammad which proclaims, “The day of judgment will come only when the Muslims fight the Jews. The Jew will hide behind the tree and the stone, and the tree and the stone will say: ‘Oh Muslim, oh servant of God, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him, except Algharqada, which is one of the trees of the Jews.’”

The same hadith is often quoted by Islamist preachers in sermons dealing with the conflict in the Middle East or in relation to conspiracy theories about outsize Jewish influence.

Tataiat’s initial trial last September resulted in a not-guilty verdict after six civil associations — among them CRIF, the main French Jewish organization, as well as the National Office for Vigilance Against Antisemitism (BNVCA) and the International League Against Racism and Antisemitism (LICRA) — launched a case against the imam.

On Monday, an appeals court decided that Tataiat had engaged in incitement, issuing the imam with a 10,000-euro fine and a suspended prison sentence of six months.

Prosecuting lawyer Alix-Marie Cabot-Chaumeton pointed out that the trial was taking place in Toulouse, where in March 2012, the Islamist terrorist Mohamed Merah shot dead three young children and a teacher at the Ozar Hatorah Jewish school during a 10-day terror spree. She accused Tataiat of having violated his “moral authority” among the local Muslim community.

Tataiat, an Algerian citizen who has lived in France since 1987, was also condemned by Hassen Chalghoumi, a prominent Paris-based imam known for engaging in dialogue with French Jews.
“We don’t need to bring this Israeli-Palestinian conflict back here, to Toulouse. We are not Al Jazeera,” Chalghoumi told media outlet 20 minutes.
“It’s not just the hadith that’s the problem, it’s the whole discourse that follows. This speech brings back hatred and division,” Chalghoumi stressed.

Lawyers for Tataiat argued that the imam’s invocation of the hadith had been misinterpreted and that he had quoted it as a “warning” to Muslims not to “participate in the movement that leads to this tragic end.”
“The law does not prohibit the reading of a text that is part of the corpus of a religion,” defense lawyer Jean Iglésis asserted. “Today it is a hadith, tomorrow it will be something else.” ... ng-appeal/

But I Was Only Quoting the Koran!

A “Swedish” imam named Basem Mahmoud has gotten himself into a spot of bother by making less than charitable remarks about Jews and Christians. His defense is that he was only quoting from the Koran, and who could argue with that?

I hardly need to point out that this case has a Mohammed Coefficient of 100%.

First, a brief video of the imam’s offending remarks. Many thanks to Gary Fouse for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:

Video link

Below is the accompanying article from Samhällsnytt, also translated by Gary Fouse:

In a sermon, the Malmö imam Basem Mahmoud called Jews “offspring of pigs and apes”. Now he is being charged with incitement against a people [hets mot folkgrupp]. Mahmoud denies the crime and says that he was only reading the Koran.
“When one reads the Koran, one cannot change anything,” he says.

In October of 2020 Imam Basem Mahmoud gave a sermon in his mosque in Malmö that was hostile to Christians as well as anti-Semitic. He accused Christians, Jews, Shia Muslims, and police authorities of conspiring with each other in a “snakes’ nest” — synagogue — against faithful Muslims.

The imam talks about “the great battle” when all non-Muslims will be forced to submit themselves to Muslims and prays to Allah that the Muslim God will defeat or destroy Christians and Jews.

“Offspring of pigs and apes”

In part of his sermon, the imam calls Jews “the offspring of pigs and apes”.

“In all times, the same deceptive villains stand in the way of the faithful. Everyone knows that the Western countries are run by Jews. Jews are their rulers. Jews are the offspring of pigs and apes. They are hostile to Muslims, but they will stand helpless against Islam,” he says.

This is the portion of the sermon, which was also uploaded to YouTube, and for which Mahmoud is now being charged.

Denies crime

In a police interrogation Basem Mahmoud denies the crime. He claims that he is only citing a passage from the Koran which states that Allah transformed people who did not believe in him into apes and pigs.

“When one reads the Koran, one cannot change anything,” he says in the interrogation.

He also says that he, “cannot change his religion for the sake of Jews,” and points out that he usually doesn’t call Jews he meets on the street “apes” or “swine”.

Defended murder of French teacher

It is not the first time that Basem Mahmoud has made controversial statements. Among other things, he previously defended the brutal murder of the French teacher Samuel Paty in 2020.

“A person who loves his religion gets angry and slaughters the teacher with a knife in the gutter because the teacher is unclean, and the gutter is the only place he deserves,” he commented on the brutal murder.

“It is a simple equation. One from their side sinned by insulting the Prophet, and one from our side sinned and killed the teacher who insulted the Prophet.”

“Sweden is ours”

In another sermon, he went on the attack against social services and schools in Sweden and stated that the country is being taken over by Muslims.

“Sweden is ours. It is ours, whether they like it or not. In ten to fifteen years it is ours,” he said in a sermon earlier this year.

In December of last year, Basem Mahmoud’s 17-year-old daughter was taken in by social services. The reason was that the girl herself reported that she “had been abused psychologically and physically in the home for a long time.” According to court proceedings, the girl lived in a strongly honor-controlled environment.

Father of seven from Jordan

Basem Mahmoud originally came from the Jordanian capital of Amman. He immigrated to Sweden in 1989 by marrying a Swedish woman who converted to Islam. He has been a Swedish citizen since 1983.

Mahmoud has seven children with the Swedish woman, but the pair are now divorced. According to the woman, Mahmoud over time “became more religious and controlling”. Several times she has asked for a restraining order against her former husband, but has been refused by the court.

Ukraine ‘blindsides’ Israel with aggressive demands, Israel fires back

Despite Ukraine’s record of voting against Israel at the UN, its embassy in Israel launches scathing social media campaign accusing Jerusalem of not helping Ukrainian soldiers due to their nationality.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Israel launched a scathing social media campaign on Sunday, slamming the Jewish State for not treating wounded Ukrainian soldiers in Israeli hospitals and suggesting that the country was not fulfilling its humanitarian obligations.

A black and white image of a Ukrainian soldier with two amputated legs was posted to the Embassy’s official Twitter account, with text in Hebrew reading: “The Israeli government is refusing to treat him, just because he’s Ukrainian.”

Accompanying the image, which was emblazoned with the official logo of the Embassy, the diplomatic institution wrote a Hebrew-language message with blistering criticism of Israel.

“Many Ukrainians lost body parts in Russian attacks,” the text reads.

“Israel is an international leader in the field of prostheses. We expect the Israeli government to do the right moral thing and help Delil [the wounded soldier in the image] and many other Ukrainians recover. There is no justification for the continued delay in aid in this humanitarian area.”

There was no mention of the multimillion dollar field hospital that Israel constructed in Ukraine to treat thousands of Ukrainian civilians.

The aggressive tone of the message did not go unnoticed by both Israeli officials and social media users.

“This style [of rhetoric] is not acceptable,” a senior Foreign Ministry official told Ynet.

“There is a way to make requests and it is not customary for a foreign ambassador to blindside the country where he is no longer a guest,” they added.

The campaign comes on the heels of numerous statements from Ukrainian officials bemoaning what they say is insufficient support from Israel after the Russian invasion.

Israel has repeatedly refrained from publicly taking sides in the conflict, attempting to maintain warm ties with both Moscow and Kyiv.

Moscow has de facto control over Syria’s skies, one reason as to why Israel has not imposed harsh sanctions on Russia like much of Europe and the Western world. However, Israel’s policy of neutrality has seen it be repeatedly land in the crosshairs of both Russian and Ukraine.

Although Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has offered to broker negotiations between the two sides and help with a potential peace agreements, both countries have accused Israel of tacitly taking the other’s side.

Russia has also ramped up its criticism of Israeli air strikes in Syria, a marked departure from previous policy.

Ukrainian officials have vocally complained about Israel’s refusal to send military support and supplies to the embattled eastern European nation, despite medical and humanitarian aid they had received from Jerusalem.

UN Watch noted that since 2015, Ukraine has voted against Israel in 78% of UN resolutions concerning Israel, including one just last week.

“Dear Ambassador Yevgen Korniychuk: Last year Hamas terrorists fired 4,000 rockets at Israeli civilians. When the UN adopts Palestinian-sponsored resolutions that condemn Israel for defending itself, why does Ukraine vote for 78% of them?” the NGO stated. ... ires-back/

Ukrainian ambassador defends Nazi collaborator responsible for murder of 800,000 Jews

n a radio interview last week, Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andrej Melnyk lavished praise on a Nazi collaborator whose followers were responsible for the murder of 800,000 Ukrainian Jews as well as tens of thousands of Poles during the Holocaust.

Stepan Bandera, “not only for me personally, but also for many, many Ukrainians, personifies the freedom fighter,” Melnyk told a Die Welt journalist in a radio interview published last Friday.

“Melnyk’s statement trivializes the Holocaust,” read the headline published by the leading German newspaper.

“There are no written laws for those who fight for freedom,” said Melnyk, who dismissed Bandera’s major role in the Holocaust in comments indicating Holocaust denial.
“Robin Hood is also respected by everyone, and he also did not work according to the law current at the time.”

Melnyk refused to acknowledge — despite being provided clear evidence of Bandera’s alliance with the Nazis and orders to “destroy” the Jews, who he referred to as the “enemy” — that the Ukrainian nationalist leader and his men were involved in the murder of 800,000 Jews.
“No, he did not participate,” the envoy asserted. “He did not give the order to exterminate the Jews, I insist.”

According to a report in PJ Media, the interview “was a top item in every major German news outlet, but unmentionable in the American media, not to mention polite company.”
There was barely a peep in the American press—I found a single passing mention in the Washington Post and nothing elsewhere—and not a word from any American Jewish organization,” the report said.

The statements of the Ukrainian Ambassador are a distortion of the historical facts, a trivialization of the Holocaust and an insult to those who were murdered by Bandera and his people,” Israel’s embassy to Germany stated.
“The statements of the ambassador undermine not only the values that we all treasure, but also undermine the brave fight of the Ukrainian people to live in peace and with democratic values,” the statement read.

PJ Media reporter David P. Goldman requested comment from the State Department press and received a laconic email reply: “We’d refer you to the Governments of Germany and Ukraine for any further comment.”
Furthermore, according to Goldman, “American Jewish organizations are keeping their heads down.”

As for the Ukraine foreign ministry’s spokesman Oleg Nikolenko, “The words of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk, expressed in an interview with a German journalist, are his personal opinion and do not reflect the position of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.” ... 0000-jews/

UK regulator finds Muslim TV station guilty of ‘antisemitic hate speech’

British broadcast agency rules that Shia Muslim TV station broadcast antisemitic content on a discussion show in 2021.

British broadcast regulatory authority Ofcom ruled that Shia Muslim TV channel Ahlebait was guilty of “antisemitic hate speech” in response to Community Security Trust (CST) complaints it received.

Ofcom said the Shia Muslim station broadcast material that “amounted to antisemitic hate speech” and was “abusive and derogatory towards Jewish people,” the UK Jewish News reported.

The ruling came after Ofcom looked into complaints made by the CST over a live discussion show that aired in March 2021. During a discussion on “20th Hour” about money and power, one of the guests spoke about Jews, saying: ”Their antisemitism comes from their actions of impoverishing people and they then respond and then they call it antisemitism but we know that it’s because they do and they get punished and as Allah says, you know, he will expel... send them to all corners of the world to be an excoriation and a hissing and a booing to wherever he had sent them.... So antisemitism comes from debt, not cancelling the debt, and usury.”

He added this was why Jews had been “expelled from 47 different countries and city-states in the last one thousand years.”

The host of the show called the antisemitic statements “interesting” and then claimed that “money is being weaponized” by the US.

Another guest said: “It’s worth just noting that antisemitism was created by Theodor Herzl at the back end of the 19th century in order to frighten and create the circumstances that would encourage Jews to migrate to Israel so antisemitism is actually a Jewish creation.”

Ofcom said they had investigated the program for three violations of regulations: hate speech, material that is derogatory towards a religion, and breaching acceptable standards.

In their ruling, Ofcom said: “In the context of a program in which all three contributors were united in advocating a fairer society, speaking from positions of moral certainty and with the dual status conferred on the guests of both religious and secular experts, there was, in our view, increased potential for viewers to have given particular weight to the contributors’ views and taken seriously the hatred expressed against Jewish people.”

In a statement, Ahlebait replied that the channel’s purpose was to “facilitate understanding between contemporary Islamic thought and the world.”

The channel also apologized for the antisemitic content, stating it was “highly regrettable and should never have been broadcast.”

The channel also issued an on-air apology in June 2021: ”The channel sincerely regrets that these potentially offensive antisemitic remarks were broadcast and apologizes.”

The Chindit Memorial is a war memorial in London that commemorates the Chindit special forces, which served in Burma under Major General Orde Wingate in World War II. The memorial was erected in Victoria Embankment Gardens in 1990 near the Ministry of Defence headquarters and commemorates Wingate, who died in active service in Burma in 1944.

German bureaucrat under fire for trashing British WWII hero who inspired Israeli army

ERUSALEM – The 10 million-member Christians United for Israel (CUFI) and the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. joined the Israel Defense Forces in issuing an unprecedented stinging rebuke of a German official for comments about late British Major-General Orde Wingate, a WWII hero and Israeli icon.

Michael Blume, the bureaucrat tasked with fighting antisemitism for the southwestern German state of Baden-Württemberg, has repeatedly called the decorated war hero and deeply religious Christian Wingate a "war criminal" and "British murderer."

When asked about Blume’s attacks on Wingate, Israel Defense Forces spokesman Lt.-Col. Richard Hecht told Fox News Digital, "Orde Wingate’s spirit and disruptive thinking were an inspiration to the founding fathers of the IDF, and he is deeply admired until today."

Christians United for Israel Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Hagee Parker told Fox News Digital, "Given his history of anti-Jewish bigotry, that Blume is allowed to stay in his present role is an embarrassment to the people of Germany and makes a mockery of the fight against antisemitism. Mr. Blume is plainly an antisemite who should be fired immediately."

CUFI is one of the Jewish state’s most important nongovernmental allies in America and the world.

Retired Col. Nelson Mellitz, national commander of the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., told Fox News Digital that his organization "celebrates the extraordinary military record of Major General Orde Wingate. As a decorated British Army officer during the 1930s and World War II, Wingate’s service is revered by Israelis, Americans and the British in creating special military units."

Mellitz served 32 years in the U.S. Air Force and continues a family legacy of over 80 years serving in the JWV.

"JWV vehemently disagrees with German Commissioner Michael Blume’s characterization of Wingate as a war criminal and British murderer and urges Blume to resign or for Baden-Württemberg officials to immediately remove him from office," Mellitz said.
"Wingate’s legacy continues with streets and squares in Israel named after him, as well as Israel’s National Center of Physical Education and Sport also bearing his name. In the United States, Wingate is honored by being buried in the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. These lasting tributes to Wingate are fitting memorials."

The JWV was founded in 1896 and is the leading organization for Jewish uniformed service members and veterans in the United States.

"I have not heard or seen Michael Blume’s comments, but I would say that anyone in Germany looking for real war criminals would better spend their time personally examining the 70,000-plus Stolperstein (‘Stumbling Stones’), small brass plaques set in the pavement outside the last known addresses of the innocent victims murdered in Germany during the reign of the National Socialists," said military historian Tony Redding, author of "War in the Wilderness: The Chindits in Burma 1943-1944. "There are plenty of Stolperstein memorials in Baden-Wurttemberg."

Wingate famously created and led a special unit called the Chindits (officially the "Long Range Penetration Groups") that conducted guerilla warfare behind Japanese lines in the Burmese jungle. Wingate and nine other persons were returning from Burma March 24, 1944, when their USAAF B-25 bomber crashed in northeastern India, killing everyone aboard.

Former Israeli ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren, a military historian and an expert on Wingate, told Fox News Digital that Blume "should resign." Oren, a former deputy minister in then-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, also served as a paratrooper during the First Lebanon War in 1982.

Leading Israeli and British military officers issued withering criticism of Blume’s anti-Wingate remarks.

"The late Orde Wingate was a trailblazer and revolutionary military commander whose daring raids and tactics are still studied at military schools around the world," Brig.-Gen. (res.) Amir Avivi, founder and CEO of the Israel Defense and Security Forum (IDSF), told Fox News Digital, "Wingate fought gallantly against oppressors on at least three continents and will forever be enshrined in Israeli memory as a hero."

Wingate warned as early as 1937 about the need to stop the Hitler movement’s plan to exterminate European Jewry and to create a Jewish state.

"We are in for a war sooner or later – no hope now of avoiding that after the Abyssinian fiasco [Fascist Italy’s conquest of Ethiopia] – for pity’s sake let us do something just and honourable before it comes. Let us redeem our promises to Jewry and shame the devil of Nazism, Fascism, and our own prejudices," he wrote.

Col. (ret.) Richard Kemp, who commanded the British troops in Afghanistan, told Fox News Digital: "Wingate, a highly decorated British officer who was killed fighting for his country in the Second World War, bravely defended Jews in Palestine against murderous Arab gangs in the 1930s. He was a committed Zionist, revered as a hero and friend in Israel. That is enough to incite hatred from those opposed to Israel and Zionism.

"Germany, of all of the countries in the world, has a responsibility to fight Jew-hate at every turn. And for one of its public officials – whether or not he’s an antisemitism commissioner – to support this sickness is a cause for national disgrace. Herr Blume shames Germany and should resign or be fired."

Avivi, who commanded the IDF’s Gaza Division, said "to accuse Wingate of war crimes is a reprehensible attempt to rewrite history and blemish the exceptional legacy of a British officer. This attempt should be squarely rejected. The IDSF will continue to advocate exactly the type of military strategy that Wingate embodied — initiative, creativity and a firm belief in the justness of our cause." ... raeli-army

Brittain.
Labor and the Jews

You gotta hand it to them. Unlike the Coalition, the leaders of the Labor party have no problem whatsoever prosecuting the ‘culture wars’ whenever they possibly can. At every opportunity since they won power they’ve made sure they notch up some little victory or other, whether it’s a seismic shift – like ‘pledging’ a 30 per cent cut to methane emissions – or merely a symbolic one. Starved of power for nine long years, the Left in office are wasting no time transforming this nation into something more to their liking.

This week came the announcement in the Australian newspaper, after a bungle on the DFAT website was exposed, that ‘Foreign Minister Penny Wong has reversed the former government’s recognition of West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel instead of Tel Aviv, as she attacked Scott Morrison over a “cynical play” to win the seat of Wentworth.’

Wow! Where does one begin to break down such a snide, mean-spirited and ignorant announcement, one that oozes with patronising contempt for Israel, for Jewish history and for Israel’s place within the global community?

Antisemitism has plagued the modern Left for the last few decades. Part of the reason Jew-hatred is so entrenched within various Labour (and Greens) parties is that their fundamental leftist ideological beliefs blind them to the reality of their own ingrained prejudices, many of which were imbibed in the neo-Marxist halls of universities and in the sweaty basements of undergraduate political clubs.

In the modern socialist view of the world, one is either a dark-skinned indigenous victim of imperialist occupation or an illegitimate pale-skinned coloniser of land that doesn’t belong to you. The ultimate irony is that Jews – persecuted and murdered for over a thousand years by fair-skinned European anti-semites for their dark, swarthy looks and semitic features – have somehow washed up in the ‘white’ column in the modern era. Whereas any other ‘tribe’ with such a long and proud connection to and reverence for their own lands would be regarded as the rightful ‘indigenous First Nation’ of the Holy Lands, the perversity of the modern Left is to deny Jews their own heritage whilst promulgating the idea that another ‘tribe’ actually owns their land. And so it came to pass that Israel and the Jews are now viewed by the Left as illegitimate occupiers of their own birthright; a glorious birthright that extends back over three thousand years and is one of the cornerstones of Western civilisation.

Thus, ‘West Jerusalem’, never before disputed, is now declared by Labor’s mandarins to not be Jewish at all – or words to that effect – but instead the plaything of globalist outfits like the United Nations and the EU.
Tel Aviv, a thriving, fun town for sure, but a modern one with no deep historical roots of note to the ancient Jewish kingdom, will suffice for the embassy gig as far as Wong and co. are concerned.

The reaction from around the world has been swift. The Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid tweeted, ‘We can only hope that the Australian government manages other matters more seriously and professionally,’ before adding, ‘Jerusalem is the eternal and united capital of Israel and nothing will ever change that.’

Perhaps Ms Wong, born in Malaysia, was confusing that nation’s overt antipathy to Israel with Australian priorities. Who knows? Whatever the case, the sheer arrogance of Labor’s Foreign Minister in presuming that she can unilaterally determine another nation’s capital city against their own wishes is breath-taking. Imagine the Chinese telling us that they didn’t recognise Canberra and were instead moving their embassy to Uluru.

This magazine and its editor have long warned Australian Jewry to beware of the fake hand of friendship offered by the Labor party. By accusing Mr Morrison of recognising Jerusalem (the insertion of ‘West’ was a typically cowardly piece of political nonsense from the Liberal party bedwetters) solely for the purpose of currying favour in electorates with a high Jewish vote shows again not only the arrogance but the condescension of Labor to Israelis and Jews, believing them to be a collective that can so easily be bought off. It is also worth pointing out that all those seats in fact went to the Teals, who themselves have a fairly questionable history when it comes to anti-semitic comments, so not exactly a credible analysis.

It was also Penny Wong who recently and disgracefully reversed the $10 million of Aussie taxpayer cuts to UNRWA; funds believed by some to be financing Palestinian pay-for-slay programs. (A cause originally championed by this magazine and successfully pursued by Dr David Adler and others in the Australian parliament.)

It was former prime minister Tony Abbott and then President Donald Trump, and most recently British PM Liz Truss, who showed their support for Israel by recognising Jerusalem as the eternal capital. Mr Trump is also responsible for bringing peace to parts of the Middle East in the form of the Abraham Accords.

Meanwhile, it was the British Labour party that was forced to turf out former leader (and good friend of Anthony Albanese) Jeremy Corbyn over allegations concerning anti-semitism.

By their works shall ye know them. ... -the-jews/

KFC apologises after German Kristallnacht promotion

KFC has apologised after sending a promotional message to customers in Germany, urging them to commemorate Kristallnacht with cheesy chicken.

The message, heavily criticised for its insensitivity, was later blamed on "an error in our system".

The fast food chain sent an app alert on Wednesday, saying: "It's memorial day for Kristallnacht! Treat yourself with more tender cheese on your crispy chicken. Now at KFCheese!"

Around an hour later another message was sent with an apology, according to the Bild newspaper.
"We are very sorry, we will check our internal processes immediately so that this does not happen again. Please excuse this error," the message is reported to have said.
