Ben & Jerry’s Israel CEO on lawsuit: ‘I refuse to boycott my neighbors’

The Israeli manufacturer and distributor of Ben & Jerry’s opened up on Monday about his lawsuit against the Vermont-based ice cream maker, saying, “the company wants me to boycott my neighbors. I refuse.”

Avi Zinger, whose company American Quality Products (AQP) became the first licensee of Ben & Jerry’s in the mid-1980s, filed a lawsuit against the ice cream company and its parent company Unilever earlier in March.

In a Monday newsletter published by journalist Bari Weiss, Zinger wrote that after three decades of working with Ben & Jerry’s, he is being “forced out” of his licensing agreement because he refused to comply with its decision to no longer sell products in “Occupied Palestinian Territory,” namely Judea and Samaria and east Jerusalem.

“I refuse to discriminate, and I strongly believe that boycotts are not the path to peace in the Middle East,” he explained. “But most significant of all: the Ben & Jerry’s directive is against the law … Requiring that I stop selling my ice cream to any customers — Palestinians or Israelis, Christians or Druze — based on where they live is illegal.”

Zinger said the prohibition violates Israel’s anti-discrimination law and anti-boycott law, as well as the terms of AQP’s own license agreement. It also runs afoul of American laws and policies designed to protect Israel from economic attacks.

He called Ben & Jerry’s claim that the boycott is not of Israel, and that the company will maintain a presence in the Jewish state, “disingenuous.”

“Under the law, no one can lawfully do what Ben & Jerry’s is demanding I do,” Zinger noted. “So unless Ben & Jerry’s finds someone willing to violate the law and go against Israeli and U.S. public policy, there will be no Ben & Jerry’s anywhere in Israel when my current license ends at the end of this year.”

‘Treating human beings as political pawns is shameful’

Zinger wrote that while he proposed alternative ways forward to Ben & Jerry’s, including having a Palestinian distributor handle products in Judea and Samaria, these were turned down.

He also slammed the Palestinian-led boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel, saying, “Contrary to what you may have read, BDS is not about opposing a particular Israeli policy. It is about opposing Israel’s very existence, and thus it rejects any effort to ‘normalize’ relations between Israelis and Palestinians. BDS cares more about ending Israel entirely than providing economic opportunities to Palestinians.”

Zinger concluded by noting the “hypocrisy” in Unilever’s actions, as the British conglomerate continues to sell thousands of other products — including Hellman’s mayonnaise, Dove soap, and Magnum and Strauss ice creams — in Judea and Samaria and east Jerusalem.

Lawyers for Ben & Jerry’s ‘effectively concede’ opponent’s central argument in Israel lawsuit

Ben & Jerry’s and parent company Unilever “effectively concede” that they cut ties with an Israeli contractor because he refused to participate in an illegal boycott of Israel, the contractor’s lawyers argued in federal court on Thursday.

In a brief filed last week, Ben & Jerry’s called a claim from Israeli ice cream distributor Avi Zinger that he was pressured to break the law a “sideshow”—but didn’t deny that it cut ties with him due to his refusal to participate in the boycott.

Ben & Jerry’s and Unilever “effectively concede that the only reason for not renewing [Zinger’s] license is [his] refusal to engage in illegal conduct. They do not dispute [Zinger’s] understanding of the Israeli and American laws and policies that Defendants’ demand would have forced [him] to violate,” Zinger’s lawyers argued in a rebuttal brief on Thursday.

Zinger’s lawyers said this bolstered their client’s allegation that the company was retaliating against him for refusing to commit an illegal action—an argument they say is “central” to their lawsuit.

The ice cream maker and Unilever are being sued by Zinger, who was Ben & Jerry’s sole distributor in Israel for 35 years before the company told him last summer it would not renew his contract. Zinger said Ben & Jerry’s cut him off after he declined to boycott sales in Israeli neighborhoods in Judea and Samaria due to his concerns that doing so would violate U.S. and Israeli anti-boycott and anti-discrimination laws.

‘I was with Ben & Jerry’s for over 35 years’

The lawsuit is the latest in a string of legal and public relations challenges for Ben & Jerry’s and Unilever, following the ice cream company’s decision last year to boycott Israeli neighborhoods in Judea and Samaria and its objections to U.S. military support for Ukraine. Multiple U.S. states have withdrawn pension fund investments from Unilever due to the boycott.

Attorneys for Ben & Jerry’s and Unilever have argued that the company had “an absolute right not to renew” its contract with Zinger, calling the lawsuit a “contract dispute and nothing more.” One of Zinger’s attorneys, Brandeis Center president Alyza Lewin, said the issue of whether Ben & Jerry’s asked Zinger to break the law is part of the “central legal doctrine of the case.”

“Unilever’s unlawful demand that Avi Zinger and [his company American Quality Products] discriminate against customers based on their residence isn’t a ‘side show’—it’s the main show,” said Lewin in a statement on Thursday.

“By insisting Zinger violate Israel and U.S. anti-discrimination and anti-boycott laws and public policy, Unilever violated the Consent Decree and License Agreement it signed and unlawfully attempted to coerce [American Quality Products] to violate laws both parties agreed to obey.”

Zinger told the Washington Free Beacon last month that he was in “shock” when the company told him last summer that it would not renew his contract. He said the company had buckled to a decade-long pressure campaign from anti-Israel activists to boycott the Jewish state.

“I was with Ben & Jerry’s for over 35 years. … We always got compliments,” he said. “Because [the company] had this situation, they had so much pressure, they just dumped me. People who were friends of mine for so many years.”

The court could call a hearing on the lawsuit as early as April 12, according to the Brandeis Center.

Israel slams Norway for labeling products from ‘areas occupied by Israel’

Decision will ‘adversely affect’ relations between the countries and Oslo’s role in advancing Palestinian-Israeli relations, says Foreign Ministry.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry sharply criticized Saturday night the Norwegian decision to label all good coming from over the so-called “Green Line,” saying it would “adversely affect” relations between the countries.
“This is a decision that will not contribute to the promotion of Israeli-Palestinian relations,” the ministry said in a statement. “It will adversely affect the bilateral relations between Israel and Norway and impact the relevance of Norway’s role in the advancement of Israeli-Palestinian relations.”

Oslo announced Friday that it only recognizes Israel within the pre-June 1967 borders, and therefore all imports from the Golan Heights, Judea and Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem would be marked differently.
In its statement, the government cited a 2019 ruling by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) that “the Food Information Regulation must be interpreted so that food from areas occupied by Israel must be labeled separately so that consumers are not misled by a lack of labeling about the origin of the products,” the government stated.
It mentioned specifically “wine, olive oil, fruit, vegetables and potatoes that come from the relevant areas.”

Although Norway is not a member of the EU and is not obligated by its court’s rulings, the statement mentioned that these specific foods are not included in the free trade agreement between Israel and European countries that includes the Scandinavian state.

Israel harshly criticized the ECJ ruling at the time as setting a “double standard” for the Jewish state when goods from dozens of other countries involved in territorial disputes were not included in the labeling decision.
Then-foreign minister Israel Katz said that it was “unacceptable both morally and in principle.” The former head of the Yesha (Judea and Samaria) Council, Yisrael Gantz, slammed it for “discriminat[ing] against Jews living and working in their homeland of thousands of years.”
Gantz also pointed out that “this decision will directly hurt the Arab population working at these factories, and manufacturing these products.”

Through Knesset laws, Israel declared its sovereignty over united Jerusalem immediately after the war, and over the Golan Heights in 1981. Other than the United States, most countries refuse to recognize the change in status, deeming the areas “occupied,” or at best “disputed,” territories.

Norway says its decision is “in line with” UN Security Council resolutions as well as “assessments” by the International Court of Justice in The Hague that “the Israeli settlements in the occupied territories [are] contrary to international law.”
In 2020, the Norwegian parliament voted down a similar bill to label products from settlements in Judea and Samaria.

Ben & Jerry’s employees required to view anti-Israel lectures on Israeli-Palestinian conflict

he narrator, an anti-Israel activist, counselled the company’s board last year ahead of its decision to stop selling its products in the “occupied territories.”

Ben & Jerry’s is requiring all new employees to watch four videos about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, all of which appear to be biased against the Jewish state, the Jewish Insider reported.
The videos are part of the company’s “Scooper Series: Social Mission” concerning the conflict as well as racism in the U.S., an employee told the Jewish Insider.

Featured in one of the videos is anti-Israel activist Omar Shakir, Human Rights Watch’s Israel and Palestine director. Shakir, a BDS promoter, advocates for a one-state solution to the conflict – meaning an end to the Jewish state.
“Omar Shakir’s background and history of anti-Israel activity, and his repeated use of false claims and hyperbolic propaganda, highlights HRW’s ideological hostility to Israel and retreat from the universal principles of human rights,” according to NGO Monitor.
In the video, Shakir alleges, “If you look at the recent escalation that took place in May of 2021, it started over discriminatory efforts to force Palestinians out of their homes in occupied East Jerusalem as part of this larger policy.”
“The policy also extends to the Gaza Strip. Although the Israeli government withdrew its settler population and ground forces in 2005, the Israeli government continues to exercise control over Gaza,” he claims.
Shakir reportedly counselled the Ben & Jerry’s board last year ahead of its decision to stop selling its products in what it referred to as “Occupied Palestinian Territory,” Jewish Insider noted.

In April 2019, an Israeli court upheld a deportation order against Shakir, giving him two weeks to leave the country. Israel’s interior minister ordered Shakir’s deportation in May 2018, calling him a “boycott activist.”
Israel enacted a law in 2017 barring entry to any foreigner who “knowingly issues a public call for boycotting Israel.”
The court said that Shakir “continues his actions publicly to advance a boycott against Israel, but it’s not on the stages at conferences or in university panels, rather through disseminating his calls to advance boycott primarily through his Twitter account and by other means.”
It cited Shakir’s support on Twitter for Airbnb’s decision to remove postings from Israelis living in Judea and and Samaria as an example. Airbnb later backtracked on that decision.

Neither Ben & Jerry’s nor Shakir responded to Jewish Insider’s request for comment.

Jews furious over German court’s ‘antisemitic’ pro-BDS ruling

The Stuttgart Administrative Court recently ruled that calls to single out the Jewish state for boycott, divestment and sanctions do not violate Germany’s laws against hate speech and are protected, sparking outrage from critics that the decision turns antisemitism into a socially and politically correct view.

“It is probably the first time in the history of the Federal Republic that a court has expressly declared ‘anti-Semitic views’ to be a legally protected area of ‘freedom of opinion,’” Henryk M. Broder, a leading expert on German Jew-hatred, wrote in his popular column for the “Die Welt” broadsheet.
Broder’s column was published in late May, under the title, “Yes, there is room for anti-Semitism in Germany.” It came in response to Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser’s claim that there is “no place for anti-Semitism” in Germany, after a mob of pro-Palestinians demonstrators stoked Jew-hatred in Berlin.
[...]
The ruling of the Stuttgart Administrative Court comes as no surprise. Already in January 2022 the Federal Administrative Court [one of Germany’s five federal supreme courts] ruled that it is illegal in principle to exclude promoters of the BDS movement from government-owned places in Germany,” he added.

The Stuttgart court is bound by the decisions of the Federal Administrative Court, Gelbart said.

“It [the Stuttgart court ruling] argues that every association applying to be named in the city’s website [and thereby advertise its views] needs to be named, no matter what political attitudes it might represent, including antisemitic views, as long as they do not violate German law,” he said.
[...]
Malca Goldstein-Wolf, an anti-BDS activist, told JNS, “It is unacceptable for a municipal website to advertise an anti-Israel movement that the German Bundestag has unequivocally classified as antisemitic. If the German judiciary does not see itself in a position to issue legal judgments against Jew-hatred, that speaks volumes.”
[...]
After initial reluctance, Stuttgart’s then-mayor Fritz Kuhn scrubbed the promotion of the pro-BDS group Palestine Committee Stuttgart (Palästinakomitee Stuttgart) from the website. The BDS group filed a suit in an effort to secure its advertisement on the municipal website.

Members of Congress urge probe into ‘dangerous’ BDS map

The central BDS leadership attempts to distance itself from the project, but a leaked letter shows their efforts are disingenuous.

A bipartisan group of 37 lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives has called on the federal government to launch a probe into the Boston so-called “BDS Map,” which they say constitutes “dangerous incitement” by pro-Palestinian activists that could lead to violent attacks against Jews.

At the same time, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC) issued a statement Wednesday distancing itself from the Mapping Project, calling on BDS activists to withdraw their support.
“Endorsement of this project by any group affiliated with the BDS movement conflicts with this affiliation,” the BNC, which serves as the anti-Israel movement’s leadership body, said.

A leaked letter, however, shows that the BNC’s concerns with the map are largely strategic, not moral.
The BNC criticized BDS Boston, which is affiliated with the project, for exposing the BDS movement to “danger of heightened persecution and repression.”
It further said that the Mapping Project was “unstrategic” in providing the names and addresses of so many Jewish organizations and “promoting messaging that includes phrases such as ‘resistance in all its forms.'”
“By having BDS in your group’s name, and yet promoting messaging which indirectly advocates for armed resistance and associating with groups that do, you have violated a key guideline of our movement,” the letter, which was leaked to The Jewish Journal, said.

In their letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, FBI director Christopher Wray, Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) and Don Bacon (R-Neb.) and 35 others raised concern that the interactive map could be used as a “roadmap” by extremist BDS supporters, including antisemitic Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
“We fear that this map may be used as a roadmap for violent attacks by supporters of the BDS movement against the people and entities listed,” the letter’s authors wrote.
The group further called for “enhanced security for targets listed in the project.”
“We must not turn a blind eye to this dangerous incitement,” they wrote.

The FBI told local Jewish leaders on Monday that it was monitoring the Mapping Project.

The anti-Semitic map includes Jewish and Israeli institutions running the gamut of Israel’s Consulate in Boston, the Ruderman Family Foundation, Israeli-American Council Boston, the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts, Elbit Systems, AIPAC, J Street, the Anti-Defamation League, two Jewish newspapers, and more.
Staffers at the Jewish organizations are often identified by name.

The map also features Boston-area police stations, hospitals, universities, U.S. military sites, financial and pharmaceutical businesses, the AFL-CIO, various federal, state and local government offices among other institutions, implying a conspiracy among the Jewish and public institutions.

While Democratic members of Congress, including anti-Israel “Squad” member Rep. Ayanna Pressley, spoke out against the map earlier this month, American Jewish progressives have been more reticent to do so. According to a report by The Forward, they are concerned that speaking out would “play into conservative narratives.”

“The reluctance of Jewish leftists to criticize the map appeared to be driven by three factors: distrust of the pro-Israel Jewish groups that have led the charge, anger at law enforcement’s role in the response, and concerns over preserving relationships with pro-Palestinian activists in the community,” the report said.

Unilever deal ends Ben & Jerry’s anti-Israel boycott in hit to BDS

Unilever distances itself from BDS, announces new deal to allow sale of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to Israelis in Judea and Samaria.

British consumer goods giant Unilever announced Wednesday the end of an anti-Israel ice cream boycott that drew heavy criticism, triggered sanctions by some US states, and even provoked a lawsuit.
In a statement, Unilever said it has secured a “new arrangement” for the sale of its Ben & Jerry’s brand ice cream “throughout Israel and the West Bank”. The ice cream will now be sold exclusively under its Hebrew and Arabic names.
The move effectively ends the boycott of Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria the company imposed in July 2021.

As part of the new arrangement, Unilever has sold its Israeli rights to the Ben & Jerry’s brand to Avi Zinger, owner of American Quality Products Ltd, the company which hitherto had distributed the ice cream in Israel as a licensee.
The deal will allow the sale of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream across Israel, including in Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria, without Unilever’s direct involvement in the sales.
“The new arrangement means Ben & Jerry’s will be sold under its Hebrew and Arabic names throughout Israel and the West Bank under the full ownership of its current licensee,” Unilever said.

Unilever agreed to the change after consultations with the Israeli government, the company said, calling the issue “complex and sensitive”.
“Unilever has used the opportunity of the past year to listen to perspectives on this complex and sensitive matter and believes this is the best outcome for Ben & Jerry’s in Israel. The review included extensive consultation over several months, including with the Israeli Government.”

The company “unequivocally” condemned any form of discrimination or intolerance, saying anti-Semitism “has no place in any society”. Unilever also distanced itself from the anti-Israel BDS movement, without explicitly condemning it.
“We have never expressed any support for the Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) movement and have no intention of changing that position.”

Ben & Jerry’s denounced parent company Unilever’s arrangement to continue selling its popular ice cream in Israel.

“We are aware of the Unilever announcement. While our parent company has taken this decision, we do not agree with it.” Ben & Jerry’s said on Twitter.

“Unilever’s arrangement means Ben and Jerry’s in Israel will be owned and operated by AQP [American Quality Products, Ltd]. Our company will no longer profit from Ben & Jerry’s in Israel,” the Vermont-based company added. “We continue to believe it is inconsistent with Ben & Jerry’s values for our ice cream to be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.”

Ben & Jerry’s foundation president steered funds to his own charity

The Ben & Jerry’s Foundation steered more than $100,000 to a charity run by its own president in the second case of a sitting board member’s nonprofit group benefiting from the foundation’s grants.
Social Ventures Inc., a charity run by Ben & Jerry’s board member Jeff Furman, raked in around $118,000 from the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation between 2016 and 2020, according to financial disclosure records.
During this time, Furman served as president of the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation from 2018 to 2020 and as treasurer in 2016 and 2017. He was also a member of Ben & Jerry’s corporate board and in-house counsel for more than 30 years, according to the foundation’s website.

The funding raises questions about the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation’s financial activities days after the ice cream maker’s high-profile effort to boycott Israel fell apart. The grants are also prompting concerns from ethics watchdogs who say they pose a conflict of interest and could violate laws against self-dealing.

The National Legal and Policy Center, an ethics watchdog group that has been tracking the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation’s spending, told the Washington Free Beacon the funding poses a conflict of interest.
“Unilever should understand they’re dealing with a radical progressive board with apparently huge conflicts of interest with corporate funds that are magically being steered to personal pet projects and nonprofits of board members,” said Tom Anderson, the director of the National Legal and Policy Center’s Government Integrity Project.

Federal law prohibits self-dealing, which the IRS defines as the “transfer to, or use by or for the benefit of, a disqualified person of the income or assets of a private foundation.” A disqualified person includes “any person who was in a position to exercise substantial influence over the affairs of the applicable tax-exempt organization” during the five years prior to the transaction, according to the IRS.

Social Ventures Inc. says it works to provide “social justice for disadvantaged people,” according to its tax discourse records. The Ben & Jerry’s grants made up a substantial portion of Social Ventures’ funding, accounting for one quarter of its revenue in 2020.

Last year, the National Legal and Policy Center filed a complaint with the IRS over the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation’s grants to a different nonprofit group run by another director at the foundation, Anuradha Mittal.
Mittal has been a trustee on the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation board since 2012 and also serves on the independent company board. During this time, the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation gave $195,000 to the Oakland Institute, an anti-Israel nonprofit group run by Mittal that has published columns in support of Hezbollah and Hamas.
Mittal and Furman appear to have a close working relationship. Furman serves on the board of Mittal’s Oakland Institute, and he recruited her to the board of Ben & Jerry’s, according to the New York Post.
Mittal is a leading force behind Ben & Jerry’s decision to halt sales in Israel last July, which anti-Israel activists sought to use as a springboard to pressure other companies to cut economic ties with the Jewish state.
She has posted on Twitter in support of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, praised singer Shakira for canceling a performance in Israel, and defended Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D., Minn.) claim that pro-Israel members of Congress have an “allegiance” to a foreign government.
“Criticism of AIPAC is not anti-Semitic & calling for Congress not to have allegiances to foreign countries (Israel) is not anti-Semitic,” Mittal wrote in March 2019, “but targeting the first black Muslim member of Congress with false accusations of antiSemitism IS Islamophobic!”

Unilever, the parent company of Ben & Jerry’s, rejected the ice cream brand’s boycott attempt on Wednesday and said it would resume sales in Israel through a third-party vendor.
“Unilever rejects completely and repudiates unequivocally any form of discrimination or intolerance. Anti-Semitism has no place in any society,” Unilever said. “We have never expressed any support for the Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) movement and have no intention of changing that position.”

Ben & Jerry’s did not respond to a request for comment.

‘Jews are throwing around accusations of antisemitism like rice at a wedding’: senior UN official

United Nations officials are at odds over antisemitic remarks made by a member of a commission investigating alleged Israeli human rights abuses against the Palestinians.

In a podcast interview last week with Mondoweiss, a website hostile to Israel, Kothari claimed that social media is controlled by Jews and suggested that Israel deserved to have its UN membership revoked.
Kothari also accused Israel of practicing “apartheid” and “settler colonialism” against the Palestinians.

Israel faces an unprecedented, “open-ended” Commission of Inquiry, established by the UN Human Rights Commission, after last year’s 11-day conflict with Hamas. Its mandate is to investigate Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians.
It is widely believed that the commission’s ultimate aim is to label Israel an apartheid state. Israeli officials refuse to cooperate with the probe.

Navi Pillay, a South African jurist who heads the investigation, quickly came to Kothari’s defense, saying the remarks reflected the commission’s “disappointment” with Israel’s “continued lack of cooperation.”

Israeli Ambassador Meirav Eilon Shahar, who represents Israel at the Geneva-based UN agencies, slammed Pillay’s “defense of the indefensible” in a letter to UNHRC President Federico Villegas.

The letter, which was seen by AFP, said Pillay “endorsed anti-Semitism.”

AFP also reported that Villegas sent a letter to Pillay noting that Kothari’s remarks “could reasonably be interpreted as stigmatization of the Jewish people, which… is at the heart of any expression of antisemitism.”

Villegas added, “I would respectfully suggest that Commissioner Kothari consider the possibility of publicly clarifying his unfortunate comments and his intentions behind them.”

So far, Kothari has issued no such clarification.

Other Western diplomats have criticized Kothari’s remarks.
“Outrageous that an appointed human rights expert on Israel and the West Bank and Gaza repeated antisemitic tropes & questioned Israel’s legitimacy as a UN member,” tweeted Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt, U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism.
“We denounce this continued, egregious antisemitism. This rhetoric is unacceptable – not to mention dangerous – especially from a head of state. It must cease.”

Pillay has a history of prejudicial comments against Israel, prompting UN Watch to circulate a petition calling on Pillay to recuse herself from the probe.

The third member of the commission, Chris Sidoti, a human rights lawyer and advocate, has been associated with non-governmental organizations in Ramallah and Australia advocating for the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel.

Shahar’s letter to Villegas called on all three members of the commission to resign.

Ben & Jerry’s says Unilever froze directors’ salaries amid Israel spat

The move is a “pressure tactic” against the left-wing ice cream company, its board members said.

Ben & Jerry’s parent company Unilever has stopped paying salaries to the company’s board members a year after a failed attempt by the ice cream giant to cut sales in Judea and Samaria.

Unilever denied payment to five independent board members as a “pressure tactic,” the board members said, after Ben & Jerry’s sued the consumer goods company in a bid to stop the sale of Israeli operations to its local licensee, Avi Zinger. The move would enable the continuation of Ben & Jerry’s operations in Judea and Samaria, which the ice cream company hoped to end in July 2021 because it was “inconsistent” with its values.

Unilever’s sale to Zinger, announced in June, angered Ben & Jerry’s board members who said that it violated the terms of the takeover deal struck with it.

“This decision for us to go to court is because of Unilever’s sale without our input, which is a clear violation of the letter and the spirit of our original acquisition agreement with Unilever,” board chairperson Anuradha Mittal said in an interview with Reuters. “If Unilever is willing to so blatantly violate the agreement that has governed the parties’ conduct for over two decades, then we believe it won’t stop with this issue.”

“If left unaddressed, Unilever’s actions will undermine our social mission and essential integrity of the brand, which threatens our reputation and ultimately our business as a whole,” she added.

Ben & Jerry’s announcement that it would no longer offer its products “in occupied Palestinian territory” was hailed as a victory for the BDS movement.

The move prompted Unilever’s stock prices to plunge, with losses estimated at around $26 billion. Several U.S. states divested their pension funds from Unilever in line with anti-BDS laws — totaling an additional $1 billion.

A hearing on Ben & Jerry’s request to stop the sale to the local Israeli franchise is scheduled for Monday, Reuters said.

Israël is innovatief.

Nou BDS, practice what you preach!

So you want to boycot Israel?
